budget for starting a grow
    #16807719 - 09/07/12 09:02 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Hey I was just wondering something. I want to start a small grow and I figured the best place to start would be to place a budget. How much do you think itll cost for all the materials? If anyone has a material list that would be nice too

You can do the PF Tek for under $50 if you're a savvy shopper.  The "Everything A New Cultivator Needs To Know!" guide linked in my signature will tell you all about it, and what you'll need to pull it off

Easily under $100
Under $50 for a modest start
Under $25 for a meager start
Under $10 for a crafty mofo

Yep, I would try and get the vermiculite at a nursery though, Walmart overcharges for it bad.

less than $100 for a small pftek grow....maybe less than $50 if u have some things laying around.

Spore syringe from sponsor...$10-$15

small drinking glasses or the short half pint wide mouth canning jars. $8 for a dozen

Perlite...8 quarts usually runs like $3-$4...u might need a couple bags depending on the size tub you get.

vermiculite....same as above. runs like $3-$4 for 8 quarts at like home depot, menards, etc....u might need a couple bags depending

Brown Rice Flour or just brown rice that u can throw in a grinder.

Big pot.....$5 thrift store

6500k light...2 for $10 at Lowes

Sterlite tub $5
Perlite x2 $10
Vermiculate $5
BRF  $5
Dozen jars  $12
Lysol $3
Alchohol $2
Spray Bottle $1
Lighter $1
Damp-Rid $6
Foil $3

Total: $ 53

Turn the tub upside down on a table and slide the lip off the edge. use this as a glovebox during your inoculation. after that borrow a power drill from a friend to turn your tub into a Shotgun FC.
You shouldn't really need anything else if you follow the directions to the letter.

Oh ya SPORES!

What exactly is the shotgun fc? I saw a picture of it and i dont understand the purpose. Why do I need to use a drill? I cant just use a knife or something?

you need a drill becasuse the holes need to be 1/4 inch. 2 inches apart. also its gonna take you a week with a knife.
watch the video homeboy posted above
you fruit your cakes in the chamber, and no theres no real decent alternative

how do you have 1,188 posts and this is your first grow?

You guys are so lucky in the US. To setup here in Australia

2 tubs (one for glovebox, one for FC) $30
12 1/2 pint jars $40
2 liters 90% Alcohol $58 (min size available)
100 liters verm $25
Spore print from overseas $27
syringes and needles x10 $10
1kg BRF $10
Spray bottle $2
Pressure cooker big $. I got a 2nd hand one for $80
foil $5 for heavy duty

almost $300!!!

and there's still other bits and pieces I haven't listed including gloves and wipes and stuff. Gotta be pretty dedicated to lash out that kind of $ to do it.
Fortunately the street value here is high too, and even selling to your mates at bargain prices you'll quickly get your cash back.
Still makes me dead jealous reading how cheap it is for you guys, Walmart doesn't exist here. And the nurseries expensive as hell.
Sob :frown:

PS: I started with Golden Teacher, apparently quite an easy strain to grow.
