Dead Wood
    #16802889 - 09/07/12 01:30 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I've actually tried a mushroom from the wild that was growing on dead wood. I got an alright trip from it, personally I think I should have not made a tea out of it. However this strain was more of a white mushroom with a bit of yellowing at the top which was the sprout. The roots seemed as if it was a couple of inches into the wood (estimating about 1 or 2in.)

Ok, I plan on using what I learned from the wild and plan on using it. I want to grow African Transkei on dead wood just as I saw in the wild. This strain is quite strong I have read and grows really fast. After my failed first attempt I will look to create a rooting system for the mushrooms to grow into the wood, take the nutrients from the wood and sprout. Any feedback on this would be helpful, thank you.

(Looking to learn and quickly, I hope someone accepts my sense of urgency)

Fastest results would be found by using the search. There's tons of info on just about any kind of grow you could want to do here. We're happy to help, but you have to be able to put in some effort yourself. Try looking for threads concerning the species in question and also wood growing teks. Paul Stamet's book "Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms" is a wealth of info for a variety of species and grow methods including growing on stumps and logs.

If you have no experience growing, you're likely to have a rough time with this method. Fundamentals, mate. There's also no such thing as  "urgency" in this hobby. Patience is critical.
