Spores on agar?

havent done alot with agar, but i was wondering if it would be alright if i put spores on an agar plate instead of a tissue sample, or should i just wait for some worthy fruits to clone? and if any, what would the disadvantages be for using spores instead of tissue?.. besides having no way to tell what the final result may look like..

You should ALWAYS start your spores onto agar. This way, you can see if there is any contaminates. If there is contams, the jar you would have knocked up with a syringe would be fucked. But since you would have done it on agar, you would be able to grab the tinest piece of white mycelium and transfer it onto a new dish. Once it grows out, find the best sector and isolate it by another transfer. Then take a piece about the size of a dime and inocolate a wbs jar with it. Wait till that is 100% colonized and do a g2g transfer to 10 other jars.
It is SUPER fast compared to ms..

This is great, wanted to know if you can drop the dry spores on the agar or do you need to hydrate them in a syringe and inoculate the agar

It's better if you can hydrate them first, but dry spores will re-hydrate on the surface of the agar. If you click the "Everything A New Cultivator Needs To Know!" link in my signature, there is a section on agar that you might find very helpful in your endeavors.

I'll have a look, been working with agar for 2 weeks so all is still new to me, I some times can't tell the difference between mycelium or contamination even though I have a few grows with ms behind my name it just looks like the agar grows differently on agar than say grain
