I'd posted about some lobsters in my area before. They've been going ever since so I went and took a few pictures of various stages. You can see some of the purpling on the older doods, the gill remnants on the not-so-parasitized yet doods as well as the white patches.

I've been finding Erinaceus and Coralloides by the basket fulls. I think I've seen something about a var Rosea and I've been finding loads of that too. All God-damn delicious!!! Here's two from today. Not trophies around here by any means but they all fry up the same!

Here are the Armillaria ?Mellea/Ostoyae? that I'd like a confirmation on. Growning around the base of trees in little clumps. Some clumps on underground wood as well. These are small and a first in the area so far this year. Brownish caps almost velvety for a lack of a better word. Slight yellowing at base of clumps. Have a ring when the veil opens and I'm printing now to confirm white. Picked a few yesterday and they printed white.

Armillaria indeed. You can tell from the little hairs on the cap, among other things.
Nice job on the Hericiums and lobsters!
If you don't mind me asking, what part of the county are you in?

Thanks for the quick replies doods. I'm from south-central Ontario, Canada.
Agree with cap hairs too... They look really distinct to me, but I like to verify as I've sure heard some hype around em.

Armillaria for sure but I wouldn't call these mellea. I'd say Armillaria ostoyae. Decent eating either way...
