What level of colonization?
    #16800510 - 09/06/12 06:44 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Currently I have 2 tubs of cambodians colonizing hpoo (1:4 ratio). One has been colonizing for almost 10-11 days now. I can post pics later, not home right now. But my main question/concern is that cambodians are a very rhizo stain. I have strands climbing my wall and some that will be almost an inch in the air here in a few days at the current rate. The rhizo covers all parts of the sub but you can still clearly see the sub through the strands and what not.

When I started this, I had expected to fruit when I couldn't see anything and the sub was covered in complete white myc. Now I'm wondering if I'll even get that though since the rhizo myc isn't really spreading out. The only tomentose growth is coming from grains. I don't have any pins yet either I should add.

Just keep waiting? Or is this all I can expect due to the strain. I'll post with pics later.

I guess it also depends on how covered the surface is, if the surface becomes matted with mycelium you may have to add a little more casing layer to it

Should be noted I never added a casing layer because I read from RR and others that you don't case cubes. Of course I then read RR say you shouldn't have exposed grains, and I have those, only read that after I had sealed it up.

ya you should of saved just a lil bit of sub to case with, after you mixed up your sub and spawn

Like I promised. Pics from just a bit ago. Theres are 2 tubs. The first one is one thats 10-11 days along, the second one is one that I spawned 2 days after the first one.

Tub1:

Tub 2:

So again, the question I have is should I wait or fruit? Most of what I have is Rhizo growth, all of the tomentose growth you see is coming from grains. If I wait for the tomentose growth to cover everything, I suspect I'll be waiting at least another week.

I'd wait until you see knot's/pin's before you fruit. Keep it in a 12/12 light cycle and you shouldn't have a problem.
