One early pin - two days later!

My friend gave me pics of their first full sized monotub. They were going to let it sit longer to colonize, but then noticed a pin in the middle. Just one solitary little guy. So they decided to bring to FC, even though originally they would of liked to let it colonize longer. The tub was in a closet and not opened or touched for about 14 or more days now. Perhaps the slow colonization was due to temperatures being as low as 75F to 78 on high days. They also managed to snap a picture of their tub. 5 qts spawn to verm/coir (2 qt, one brick) and 1 qt of extra straw/poo. Using brf cakes. (Didn't have PC at the time) Should my friend be worried? They've never done monotub/grow before!

Any suggestions? What should my friend do to get the best out of this tub? Thank you so much in advance for your time, what a great community
EDIT: My friend decided to pick the pin, based on the impatience of their partner as well as hopes that picking it would promote more even growth amongst the others. My friend also sent me pics, and said that it came to 14G wet!! How far along do you think it was? This was two days later from the previous picture they sent me. I can't believe how small it was...

They send their thanks! I told them to get an account here soon >_<

Also your friend should take note that the picture is blurry, but you can make about about 1000 hyphal knots, which will also be pins soon.

I will let them know - they need to get a camera more up to date with the times :P My friend also is concerned about the appropriate range of temperature for B+ - currently tries to stay between 76-78 degrees. Their last experiment with a mini mono, albino a + seemed to produce skinny shrooms, but they weren't using a lot of spawn. Currently they plan to not mist or fan or open the monotub, would this be a good strategy?

I wouldn't open the monotub, peeking is ok to check progress. Your temp range is fine.
Mushrooms grow skinny, and tall, when there is not enough FAE, the caps are trying to escape the high c02 levels, as mycelium eats oxygen, it releases loads of c02. Also keep in mind that c02 is heavier than oxygen and sinks to the bottom, so having your friends ventilation holes (probably stuffed with poly) at or slightly below your case/sub layer lets the c02 drain off, like water. Also they may get skinny with too little light.

That temp.'s just fine.

If this was your last strategy, and they turned out skinny, you may want to try fanning at least occasionally, a light misting wouldn't hurt, just don't leave puddles of standing water on the sub.
