FSRE FTW!!
    #15167092 - 10/02/11 01:36 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Wow!

I didn't expect anything to happen at all. But, for $2, I figured it was worth the possibility.

FSRE came through with some awesome specimens for the microscope. About as fresh as you can get w/o making the print yourself.

I feel obligated by honor to say everyone should donate to this cause, either cash or new strain prints for them. They have a list of strains they used to have but have not been replenished. So, if you have them, send to the good guys to keep this thing turning. Especially if you've received on of the "out of stock" prints from them to begin with. But however you do it, show your support so they can spread their love for many years to come.

Thanks,
~Corwin

P.S. I do not have any affiliation to FSRE, I just felt moved say my piece and yell their praises from the mountain top.

:whathesaid::whathesaid::whathesaid:

GREAT FUCKING PEOPLE THERE! (Pardon the caps)
I can't stress enough how great they are. I've gotten two prints from them. The most recent print was AMAZING. Very heavy spore deposit, and perfectly sterile. Never had contam problems from their prints... Btw, you don't have to say it's for the microscop man... They don't even claim that on the site. It's their cause to allow for widespread cultivation (where legal of course...)

The first print that I recieved was sort of hard to work with, but pleasing none the less. It was also a virtually unkown variety(Pensacola), so I wasn't bothered a big deal. The deposit was just a little weak. And for free, how can you complain?

I am not affiliated with FSRE either, but they are great people, and their cause is one that we should all share. Donate to these wonderful people and share your prints with the world!

Yeah, well sponsors and other companies make it pretty obvious what people are doing with the spores.

How can you say that your spores are only for microscopy when you offer 30 varieties of P. Cubensis that are all appear identical under the scope? Newsflash: the only difference is the characteristics of the fruit bodies, which can't be seen unless you cultivate your spores.

If sites meant their spores to be for microscopy, then you would only have the option of choosing a species. How would you feel going to a sponsor page to pick a variety and only finding the choice of "P. Cubensis"

Really? Nobody besides me and Prince Corwin have used and support FSRE?

You guys are throwing your money away. People always talk about how non-sponsor vendors are rip offs, but I think that sponsors are rip offs too. They charge like $15 for a syringe, and even more for a print. Not to mention the mass production of these things frequently leads to contaminations and mis-handled spores.

I senf FSRE $2 and have already made 10 syringes with excellent growth and no contamination.

Sponsors are for-profit companies. They want your money too. The prints are like $20-30. That's F'd up IMO. They have a shitload of those things. They just want your cash.

Stop tossing your money out the window and wisen up. FSRE could probably supply the entire world with free spores if shroomerites supported aided in the cause.

Plus, what's better than starting completely from a print and ending with some beauties? It's much more satisfying taking spores from a print and getting them into your jar as opposed to going from a commercially made syringe into your jar. I don't trust anybody but myself to put spores into a syringe anymore.

Yup, I am finally seeing some results from that print. And still have a jar full of solution for countless more syringes and some spores still on the print.

Noc'd up 5 jars 5 days ago and I hadn't been looking. (so disappointed w/ my last failure) I think I used the hot water for sterilizing the needle straight into the spores on the first try and burned em out. I took my time on these 5, waited 4 days, (I've been waiting weeks for the others) and BANG! All 5 jars showing US quarter coin to soup/tin can lid sized, beautifully white growth at every noc point.

It's like watching my first born grow from load into a fine young fetus. Sorry, that was a tinge off color. You get the point. I'm psyched up now just watching  mycelium grow. :crazy2:

And I will send back some prints if all goes correct. But of course this is all in my head anyway. It's not really possible to send a letter around the world with some pocket change and have a postcard showup with workable sporeprint. Even if they did, there's no way I could take those microscopic fungal spores and nurse them to life in my kitchen. Riiiiggghhht. Who am I, Albert Hoffman? That's just crazy talk. :crazy2:

What you are failing to realize is that sponsors pay a monthly fee to
advertise on the shroomery and pay for the server upgrades, bandwidth,
etc. Supporting the sponsors helps support the Shroomery and keep this
great site running. Just FYI brother.

The FSR is a great thing, but what happens when someone donates prints
that are not clean? When you purchase from a shroomery vendor you get
a guarantee that your syringes will be aseptic, if they are not they will
fix the problem so you can continue on with your microscopy viewing.

It is a trade off:

FSRE: You get a print for cheap. It is more then likely aseptic, but since
the prints are all donated their is a chance it is not. As well shipping
CAN take longer then ordering from a vendor, especially when a member
from North America is involved.

Vendors: They offer a product, with an aseptic guarantee, ship quickly,
only use high quality materials (syringes, caps, needles etc) and do all
of their work under laminar flow. Yes they mark up the prices to the
person purchasing the item but it is a business. Would you fault MycoPath
or other cultivation supply companies for trying to make a profit on
their goods so they can feed their families?

Just wanted to point a few things out, no offense meant brother, and
of course those who can take aseptic prints could do worse then donating
to the FSRE and spreading the love.

Right on.

Who wants a slew of bacteria ruining the view...or even worse the wrong
spores.  That would skew one's taxonomy.

I'm going to have to look into this becaus I really support ventures like this on such a fundamental level!
I'm doing asimilar thing with seeds from my flowers this year (damn I'm such a hippy, i know

however, on the flipside, I know business can be bad, but have always considered dealers making a cut from their exploits as fair, as they run the risk of being busted... how far they take their search for profit is a different discussion, but in principle I support someone who's putting their balls on the line

I'm not sure who said it, perhaps Terence McKenna.... I know someone will put me right... but he said if you take drugs, it's your duty to deal even if it's only once. to even up the score...
ok I'm rambling now, haha

respect to the FSRE! I can't wait to be able to contribute to them, and all the good folks on here too

Everyone should support both. Sponsors, because they actively help keep strains alive and put a lot of work into what they do (and admit it, it's a very niche thing, nobody is buying a Ferrari), and FSRE, because they're just plain awesome. Anyone doing a print contest should earmark 5-10 prints just for FSRE.

FSRE also has fairly strict requirements on labeling and packaging, which will help you, the printer, maintain a better collection. If you always follow their guidelines, whether or not you donate, you'll be better off.

My bad guys. Got off on a tangent for some reason. One of those moods...

If you want a guaranteed product, hit up a vendor. If you want some good free prints, hit up FSRE. ESPECIALLY if you work with agar.

Happy Growin :mushroom2:

I do and have spent $$ on the sponsors of the site. I would also recommend everyone do that as well. Great site, hate to see it vanish due to poor funding. But, if someone happens to live in certain areas, purchasing pre-made syringes can't be done, without a road trip involved at some point. That being the case, I still thought it was cool to send $2 and and envelope away and receive a lovely thank you post card in return. I didn't really expect my pen pal to reply, to be honest.

The necromancers strike again!

The FSRE only ships prints.  If you've never made a spore syringe before, it's not hard at all, there's a tek in my "Everything A New Cultivator Needs To Know!" guide linked in my signature.
