I am not sure but I think I have too much moisture in my tubs..PLEASE HELP! (PICS)
    #16797459 - 09/06/12 08:51 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I just got my tubs colonized and put them to fruit but noticed water around the edges of my tub and quite a bit of moisture (heavy beads of water and alot of droplets) across my myc bed ... I know the evaporating moisture is a main trigger for the fruiting stage and that there should be good moisture on the myc but is this too much?? I am fanning up to 6 times a day and not going to mist for the first 48 hours they are in fruiting as to let some of the excess water evaporate off, is this a mistake?? I know there are alot of threads on this subject but none of them help me to understand whether or not what I have going on is ok or I need to do something about it... I have on one tub before, used a sterile syringe to punch through the bottom and suck about 10cc of standing water off with no problem but would rather not do that if is not needed.  Any advice or input would be much appreciated, thx.

I did 10 jars total about a week ago. My PC can only do a batch of 4 at a time. 6 jars are normal but 4 of them have noticeable beads of water in them. So far they are healthy with 75 percent colonization and no signs of contams. But im also concerned.
Edit: I realize yours is a tub. Atleast you can control that better than jars. Just stating I have similar problem. If anything just giving you a bump cuz I'm interested.

When I have had tubs with excess water I very carefully poured some off of one corner; taking, of course, magnificent care not to damage the substrate in any way.. It was perilous, but did work.

I think you would do well to just fan and let evaporate.  Should be good to go!

That is a nice looking tub, btw. :mushroom2:

all of thats normal.
that water on the bottom should be reabsorbed quickly once the substrate airs out a little.
if it doesnt just hold the substrate in place with your hand and pour out the excess moisture.
the water on the top is normal. it will be reabsorbed
did you case them? that pic on the left doesnt look 100% colonized

Before fruiting my monos i always tilt the tub sideways while gently hilding the substrate in place with latex gloves so it doesnt fall out.

Just how i get the excess water/piss out.

I just have been fanning it 6-8 times a day and very lightly misting, it seems to be doing fine now, the substrate is pulling away from the sides indicating moisture is leaving the tub.  I haven't really been able to achieve a set 10 degree drop like I have seen said to trigger pinning, is this a major factor in causing cubes to fruit??

temp fluctuation is good higher temps for 12hrs cooler temps for other 12. but not necessary at all.  you can also google around and use wax paper/folded foil tek to start pinning

If u think its too wet why are u misting?(scratches head)

U dont even have to mist a monotub on the first flush.

Notahacker ... I didn't mist for the first 2 days but now that the sub is shrinking I started to mist lightly to maintain moisture evaporation and not let it get too dry.  sry for confusion.
