8" inline blower with 438 cfm @ 1.5"sp... Bad?
    #16796589 - 09/06/12 01:07 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Should I buy this?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/8-Inch-Duct-Inline-PowerFan-Exhaust-762-CFM-Vortex-Fan-/150492506315?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230a0d68cb

I know RR say's Inlines are no good. But this one has the static pressure chart on the auction page saying that the 8" blower puts out over 400 cfm at 1 1/2". Is this blower adequate? or is there something else about inline blowers besides cfm to sp ratio that makes them a poor choice?

First step...find a filter....

Second step...match a blower to that filter...its easier this way.

Not the other way around.

You should be asking if this blower will work for this filter...yea that blower will work, but will it give u a laminar flow?

Depends on the filter first.

Well I am finding a lot of filters at around 1 to 1.2 inches for resistance. Then according to fungi fun you get about .2" resistance from the pre-filter. So at that leaves this blower over nearly 450 cfm for a 1.2" resistance filter. Meaning I should be able to power a 24"x24" for 135 bucks.

To me it seems like this inline is the way to go. I can't find a squirrel cage with this kind of power this cheap. But others say inline blowers sucks, so i was just wondering if i am missing an important piece of info as to why they suck. because this one has a decent cfm vs. resistance vs. money chart.

I would think they work fine, I actually like the Centrifugal one on my sig, If I ever build one, its gonna be like that one.
