This IS The future
    #1679016 - 07/02/03 04:27 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

I live in a small town and I have always sort of realized this but nothing has made me realize this more so than travelling to Aukland new Zealand. We are incredibly advanced. I think it sort of crept up on alot of people so that they don't notice it really. But fuck. You have the incredibly crammed apartments. The skyscrapers. The trains busses flyin around. The thing that makes it really apparent is the massive amounts of Internet cafes, two on every block. If you took someone out of the year 1900 they would say "holy fuck, this is the future". We mock old science fiction movies that predict the future but really we are not that far off. What a completely alien landscape big cities are.

Go through the orange yesterday

I watched intently for a while to both sides, infront of me and behind me.
I was impressed to learn there was another way to look... UP!
More impressive still was the fact that there were beautiful stars in this direction
Most amazing fact of all was the prospect of another direction when I was done with up. DOWN! Which, based on the feel through my toes would be a fine sandy beach!

I really really hope that tokyo isn't "the" future....

I'm still not sure if I came back to the same place I took off from whilst tripping.... it sure seems strangely out of time...

the future is not tokyo or mexico city, at least, not in the U.S., the "Moral majority" would never alow some o the things in tokyo to exist in the state and the liberals will (hopefully) never allow the govt. to turn the states into a place like Mex. city. (besides, not all of the state's cities are built on top of cursed ancient ruins, in a swamp and surrounded by mountains...wait a minute  i think the future'll be either like '84 or like the way i am when i trip, i hope...

it's funny you say that because when I go out to the countryside and visit some small town out there somewhere I think:

This IS the PAST!

i dunno, i ment more of a social acceptability of videogames, imperial governmentz, sex shopz, vending machines with odd things in 'em, etc. but the MM is dying out...it doesn't seem as powerful anargument now as it did.

There is no now, for everything that is experienced has already passed from the world. There is only the past -- what's happening 'now' will not be experienced for milliseconds.
