Stunted pins with pointy black tips

I have 2 monotubs on the go and both of them (though more so in one) have MANY pins, which got me excited, but most of them seemed to have stopped growing, and while a lot of those still look normal some have developed pointy black tips on their caps, like in the picture below:

Ones that have the caps turn all really dark/black I try to pic when I harvest the few that grew to adulthood, figuring they were aborts, but ones that stay looking like that and don't grow...whats with that?

Most of them are aborts. It's probably a FAE issue. Give us more details about your setup.

Basic monotubs, half brick of coir + 3 quarts of spawn, 4 holes each side of tub, stacked in my closet with a lamp. I keep the closet open and theres a fan outside the closet, but my tubs were turned so that the holes with polyfil were facing to either side, inside the closet. I have since turned them so 1 polyfil holed side is facing out of the open door, hoping that will help with FAE. Thinking of opening them and fanning them out occasionally too. Strain is Hawaiian.

Best solution would be taking the tubs out of the closet. If you can't, try loosening the polyfil, fan them 2-3 times a day and see what happens.

I used to have monotubs going in a closet and they had FAE issues since they weren't exposed to normal air circulation. You need to manually mist and fan multiple times daily, that should help a lot. Don't pack in the polyfil too tightly. Also, try using higher spawn ratios for higher yields.

Its not like they are buried in the closet. They are RIGHT at the closet door, which is slid all the way open, and theres a fan next to the closet blowing across the open doorway.
I've started fanning twice a day. Too early to tell if thats helping. 1 tub looks like it have about 500 small aborts. That is REALLY fuckin annoying to pick. lol

i fan and mist my monotubs multiple times a day. i would start doing this and in 3-5 days they should bounce back if FAE is culprit

Well I've never had to mist and fan my tubs before, but I did keep the previous ones out in the open.
I take it I really need to clear the sub of these aborts asap?

I have had a few tubs of mine do something very similar. Tons of pins that just stopped growing, though never really began to rot. Conditions for them were sublime.
IMHO this is a genetics issue. I bet it was MS inoculation. Have you fruited this strain before successfully? If not, the MS god's have shit on you.

Yes MS inoculation. Yes I have fruited this strain before. Its actually from a print I received from a member here a while back. Had several successful grows, and have even harvested off these two tubs twice already.

Got me stumped then, good sir, as to the cause.
I harvested all these tiny things from my tubs, and ended up with 80g dry! Way more than I expected. Though they aren't much to look at, it is excellent fodder for extractions.

ya you dont have to pick aborts. they end up looking all funky looking and they stay there FOREVER but they dont hurt anything. and EVENTUALLY yes they break back down into mycelium just like if you leave pieces of shroom behind when you harvest
i pick a few to eat and leave the rest becasue i dont care

Then why do I always read about picking them before they rot? How can rotting things turn back into mycelium?
