    #16785993 - 09/04/12 10:27 AM (12 years, 4 months ago)

ive always been drying everything with just a fan but unfortunately its too humid in my area to do so . so i was wondering if a dehumidifier would work since i have one laying around and if not what are some good food dehydrators i could invest in ? any help would be great thanks

Food dehydrators work perfectly.

I concur. Dehydrators work great. I have the Open Country Food Dehydrator & Jerky Maker. 60$ but a great little machine.

If all else fails, and your broke Hit your local grocery and get
you one of these like 7$. Air dry your fruits a bit, then put them in
a Damp-Rid chamber. Find it with the Search Engine.

Funny everyone keeps ignoring his question.

I would assume that a dehumidifier would work really well for drying as all that's really needed to get them cracker dry is very low humidity. Hence why a desiccant chamber works.

I say go for it since you have one. I've thought about getting one myself but they are just too expensive compared to a dehydrator.

Well, considering that a dehumidifier lowers humidity and your problem is high humidity then it will definitely help.  I would use it in the smallest closed area possible, such as a small closet and stick your fan in there with it and dry normally.

I've done this before and it's lowered my humidity to 26% and temps were 95-100 F.
