I could see if you live in a disaster area (either weather or high crime) but for most of us, we will never use it.
I did, paid cash for my first house, paid cash for my second house, paid cash for 85 acres and then paid cash for the home that's on it, I paid cash for my barn, that was $60k, paid cash for all my vehicles, that's another $100k and I've never financed anything but a kirby vacuum to be nice to a salesman that really gave me a sob story and a great demonstration
Kirby my god man rainbow vacuums are superior!

Instead of sharing the burden and looking out for eachother youd rather everyone live without that type of protection? Your callous.
I've already shown that this doesnt have to happen, maybe if people would wise the fuck up they wouldnt be seeing these kinds of issues and anyway, why should I have to pay to replace your liver if your career was to collect welfare and drink the checks into oblivion, the same thing you'll do once you've got that new liver
There will always be those that abuse the system, but they dont comprise a majority. Which is really the only talking point Ive seen throughout this thread. Im willing to cover there ass's form themselves if everyone gets covered by it, and most Canadians feel the same way.

What tends to happen in Ontario at least is that if you're on the list for a liver transplant, you'll get booted off if you keep drinking.

I'm certainly not defending that perspective, but that would appear to be what it is.
I most certainly do not care to bankroll anything for him. Or you. Both of you can buy your own shit.
Quit assuming I can't, Mr. I-Make-A-Ton-Of-Money.

Imma guess that most Canadians aren't actually paying shit. Just like in the US, I suspect the tax burden is viciously disproportionate.

Searching for the answer to that I found out that the total cost per province grows by a avg of 7.5% per year while GDP and general revenue only grows by 5% which in the past couple of decades has lead to healthcare costs ballooning to consume 55% on average of the provincial revenue. As high as 87.7% in Nova scotia. Realistically this is unsustainable. As much as I would rather we keep it its just not feasible, sadly.

The standard of living in industrialized nations is not sustainable all around. Health care included.

The general standard of living is. The welfare standard of living is not.
