Tupperware tek?

It seems that I've used up all of my quart jars in the past few days and am looking for an alternative to sterilize my wbs in. I have a couple pp5 tupperware containers laying around and was wondering if these could work for wbs. I've seen many people make giant pf cakes in them before but I've never seen anyone use them for grain spawn. Has anyone had success with this? Does anyone think that the containers might not hold up for the full 90 mins in the pc at 15psi? I just don't have the extra $$ at the moment to go out and purchase more jars, but I still have a lot of WBS left.

they should work. if they can be used for pf tek i don't see why they won't work for grain.
they should hold up in the PC as well. only thing i see being difficult is shaking them during colonization

Awesome! thanks for the advice man! Out of curiosity, how did you prep your lids? (polyfill, Rtv, tyvek, etc.) Did you use tinfoil over just the lid like a jar, or did you tinfoil over the whole container? I'm thinking of one polyfilled hole right in the center of the lid.

If that's the case why aren't there any more recent threads? The latest thread I could find is from 2010. Plastic and WBS seems like the cheapest way to go about this atm.

For WBS I usually use the Quart glass.
Just so happens I recently used a Bunch of these:

to make grain spawn in. Wanted to see if multiples would hold up in the PC and if they would actually work for grains. Although I don't recommend to use half pints for grains, way to much work.
But 4 days later I do have Mycelium growth.
EDIT: I could probably take a few Pics with my Phone

I actually have a couple half gallon ones that I'm thinking about using. I can fit 2 of them in my pc without stacking so I think this may be the way to go.

That's good to hear! How did you prep your lids? a description or pic would be very helpful

if you're making spawn or a brf cake,

if you're using colonized spawn and mixing/layering with bulk substrate,
sans the injection ports on this picture. This is from a while ago when I was trying to use a dry verm layer with these containers. when spawning mini bulk sub cakes in these, all I needed were holes in the lids.

I actually only put a GE hole on one side. About 1/4 of an Inch (Tyvek). And then used RTV to make a self healing port. The Tupperware's are cheap so I just made the lids for use only for WBS. I really din't leave a lot of room for a shake. When using them for PF, I usually get 100% in 15-21 days. Plus I'm using a pretty fast colonizer IME. So far it's still holding up, 4 days and I see some Healthy Myc.
Couldn't get a good pic with my phone. I'm looking for my actual camera.
EDIT: I've used half pint freezer jars, they work good
These were from a LC test, they got there own little FC

Maybe its just global consciousness, cuz this is the approach I've been PMing members on this board such as Doc and DyngBreed about for info.
This seems like the way to go now that I know.
In fact, I am thinking of posting my pf tek and 1st time agar grow.
I'm gonna do it all in P5. I'll inoculate this SATURDAY.
I log in from my phone. Should I be paranoid?

I see yours demonstrated the same tendency to somehow make the myc more apt to colonize the dry verm layer. Just about all the grows I did in these containers did the same thing. I wonder why the plastic containers do that so much more often than glass mason jars.

Well plastic has really been around since I've been on the forum at least. But the PF Tek Video's use glass. So obviously new growers are going (or should) stick to the Tek's. At least until they get the basics down. I usually only advise new growers to use the Short Half Pint Plastic ones if they cannot find the short glass ones. Because the tall ones do work, but very poorly IMO. Here is one 3 year old Tek using 4oz plastic tubs. Which I like to use also, just not with his method. Very fast colonization.
 Think I used Straw/BRF/Verm in those 4...
