What is beyond "awakening" Kundalini energy - Plus 2 Experiences

There are many texts and methods instructing one on the process of awakening and becoming aware of this subtle body energy. But after it is harnessed, what is the benefit? What do you do with it? What is the purpose of tapping into it?
I've only had 2 encounters with this type of energy. Once, before a drastic life change and moving across the country, I sat in the middle of an empty house and meditated. Unlike my routine sessions, this time I started sweating profusely. I felt tremors in my spine that etched out into my limbs. I felt full of energy and while meditating began spontaneously rocking back and forth...
Fast forward a couple of years. I'm completely alone and silent in another new environment. I've been reading and listening about spiritual exercises all day. I decide to crack open a book I had bought called "Speaking of Siva" - it's a collection of poetry translated from Sanskrit by dedicated seekers, monks, and ascetics. They were in the form of "vocanas." At any rate, a similar thing gradually happened without my even trying: I started sweating heavily again and felt the compulsion to rock back and forth, just like the people praying at the Western Wall. As in, I didn't make this up - I wasn't trying a new two-step dance, or pacing out of boredom. My body was imprinted on this and knew to move back and forth rhythmically.
It felt cleansing and healing. But is that the end of it? What's next?

i'm not knowledgeable at all about kundalini - but have you read or heard any of Gopi Krishna's work? he had a massive kundalini awakening (lol) and became quite well known for his work with kundalini awakenings. i saw a video of him a while back and he seemed quite knowledgeable
here's his wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandit_Gopi_Krishna

Thanks, deff. For the other question:
It's multi-faceted and changes.
*For the pure sake of mindfulness and awareness; including breathwork and pranayama styles.
*For relaxation and happiness; compassion guided meditations, focusing energy towards others.
*Vipassana style - insight meditation for understanding and self-knowledge.
And so on.

The door always seems to manifest when you are ready. It is quite an odd thing tbh.
