Can myc beat the contam? * 1
    #16773052 - 09/01/12 07:37 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

So I have a monotub that has a green growth growing on it. The tub is at 80% full colonization and 15% of that is this green mold. But the interesting thing is that where the green mold is it looks as if it is losing color and being taken over by the myc, giving it a frosted light green look to it. Will the myc beat out its opponent, or should i spray it with H202, or just chuck it?

If you're sure it's mold then there's plenty more where you can't see so I'd probably just toss it though you may still get something have a place outside to fruit it safely.

No, outside.

Why an outside grow? Rather than just letting it continue in the tub. Also if it is trych is it possible for it to be devoured by the myc?

Spawn it outside, once the mean green rears its ugly head, you definitely do not want to open indoors.

Can you link me to a fact that trich wins? Does it feed on myc as a food source giving it 100% win ratio?

I definitely would never open indoors! But is there a verifiable reference to whether or not trich can be devoured my myc?

It depends on what you mean winning. The mycelium won't kill trich and the mold mycelium spreads throughout the substrate, not just where you can see the mold. So even if you get mushrooms the mold will continue return and everytime it does it does so in larger amounts and releases more and more into your grow area unless you have it isolated by fruiting it outdoors.

Okay I have read a some of your link but fail to find where trich was tested against a competing myc, I will continue to read but it seems as though this site is based upon the controlled culture of 33 strains of trich and not the competition of it against myc.

I've left a few jars and agar plates that contaminated to fight against the trich, and every one of them lost.  I've only ever heard of the Orrissa India variety beating trich, but that was a particularly strong isolate if I remember correctly.

When it comes to trich, you always want to play it safe because once those spores get released into your grow room, your going to have nightmares about it later on.

No.

Edit - Wow! I only seen 3 post. I thought that's all there was sorry. But my message is to the OPs original post

Edit That white stuff is trich

h2o2 kills myc, you should start over.
