Sterlization with Hydrogen Peroxide

I have heard of sterilizing jars with hydrogen peroxide. Does anyone know about this and how to do it? Is it difficult? Is there a higher chance of contamination? Anything info is appreciated.

Sterilizing the jars themselves? This would be easy. With the substrate, well, the guy that made up this idea has a site at http://www.mycomasters.com

I have no idea how well it works, but he has a book on it.

you'd need some jet fuel kind of hydrogen peroxide. I don't think h2o2 will sterilize too much, much can survive a peroxide bath.

peroxide kills spores.

that's pretty much it. Some bacteria, and some single celled organisms.


It wont kill any living fungii in your jars.

use 35% hydroponic peroxide, it will kill anything, even you, lol
ps, wear safety glasses and gloves, the stuff is pretty strong, i know, i almost burned my hands the first time

I have seen this first hand and know it to be true. When I was in high school, one of the kids in our chemistry class decided to prove that h2o2 was no more dangerous than h2o. He downed around 200ml of 30% h2o2 before anybody could stop him and quickly dropped to the floor. It was a very gruesome sight with bloody foam gushing from his mouth. Even with the hospital less than half a mile away, he died. Be very careful with this stuff.

50%?? Holy crap!

I've never even seen 50% H2O2 before!

Remember to keep it away from fire, too. And yes, don't drink it. Kind of reminds me of this story about some guy a long time ago who ate a cup full of ergot because he didn't think it would hurt him (he was trying to prove this to his friends.) Needless to say, "he died, too."

Yeah, I got it from a farming bloke up QLD way. He said they have drums of it and it's used to clean the irrigation lines on sugar cane plantations.

On topic to this thread that asks about H202 to sterilise jars, I did so on some shroom stipe tissue in an attempt to clone...will it work?
