Surely you wouldn't watch.........while tripping.

Normally if I choose a movie to watch, its normally something disney related. While at a friends house I watched 13 Ghosts. I had never seen the movie before and my friend was telling me it was about a house that was a machine and powered by evil spirits. I would have thought it would of scared me to death but actually it was quite interesting.
Anyone else seen it while tripping? P.s. Also watched Pulp Fiction, very strange indeed.
Peace Ya'alls

Pulp Fiction was great, didn't watch it tripping though. And I watched 13 ghosts too, but sober, it was weird, I didn't like it too much...
Anyways, I'm watching Fantasia my next trip, for sure...

13 ghosts was one cheesy ass movie, but some of those spirits were actually pretty damn freaky...
I don't think I'd like to watch a horror movie tripping.

>>I watched 13 Ghosts
The only good thing about that movie was the very end when the black lady went off. I want to sample her rant and use it in a song.
If you're going to watch a horror film while tripping, make it something along the lines of Martha Stewart Living.

MISTAKE? That movie is an EXCELLENT film to watch while tripping. Along with Naked Lunch, Pi, Waking Life and Frailty.
Tripping makes you think...what's the mistake in watching thought-provoking movies? And if you can handle it, I'd recommend watching a surgical procedure while tripping...that is cool...but only if you can handle such things sober.

well bobbity, I love all the other movies you mentioned, but lost highway just freaked me out. The bloody murders, the jarring cuts, the extreme lighting techniques (which I love, but they were meant to freak people out and it worked on me lol).... I always love great philosophical conversations while tripping, but I hate watching things in general. I always get the feeling like I'm wasting a trip when I'm just sitting around inside someone's house watching something. Sitting around talking about shit, that's different.... but I dunno, watching stuff is too much of a one-way activity. When you watch something, you're not interacting with it, at least not on the levels that you should interract with things while tripping. You're just sitting there absorbing the colors and the sounds.... I can't stand that while tripping. My mind must be active, going over thoughts, picking things apart, and then sharing those ideas and such with my tripping buddies to see how they react and solve the same "problems"....
...I dunno, you may not agree, but then I grew up in a hippie town and generally hate TV and always trip outside
(btw I'm from the same town that High Mountain Compost is based in)

vanila sky is an excellent movie when sober too. It took me a few tries to fully appreciate the movie though. Also, fantasia 2000 is amazing. Not only is the animation top notch, but everything moves to the music!! It's hilarious. Also, the little stories make comments on human nature, like the whale one that touches on conformity and segregation. It's great.

Hi guys, first post
I've got to go along with Vanilla Sky, Dune, Donnie Darko, and AI. It helps if you really like a movie sober, and those are great movies. Not everybody cares for Dune, but if you love the atmosphere of it like I do, it's worth a trip.
Movies I wouldn't even consider tripping to:
Requiem for a Dream
The Others
Movies I'd like to try out:
Brazil
Dune 2000/Children of Dune
Pleasantville
Time Bandits
Interview with the Vampire
Anything Lynch, although I'm not sure I could stay focused on it.

Brazil and Time Bandits BOTH kick ass while tripping. (Mom! Dad! Don't touch the toaster!!! It's concentrated Eeee-vil!)
And as much as I hate to admit it, the Toxic Avenger movies are pretty doggamn funny tripping as well Stupid, yeah. Corny, hell ya. But oh man, are they fun to watch!
And if you EVER have the chance to watch Fritz the Cat (Ralph Bakshi), do yourself the favor. It's a bit intense in places, but WELL worth it.

This is what's great about DXM. DXM is great for negative and unpleasant films, like war and horror films. I love watching disturbing and generally unpleasant films on DXM.
BTW, Faces of Death is the cheesiest, fakest shit I've ever seen. There's maybe three deaths in there that might be genuine.

Baraka is permanently branded into my head...great mellow trip.
YES!! DXM totally uh..disassociates you...me and past roomates usta sit around all day watching hardcore porn and Waco Documentary footage on DXM.
And I also agree that Faces of Death is fucking silly shit...War footage is the real HEAVY HEAVY. Once a friend and I got some movie from the store called 'Night of the Locust'(?) sum shit anyways it was fucking SICK...wierd...footage of prisoners being beaten, begging for their lives..with 'These Boots Were Made For Walkin''playing for the soundtrack...bee zar.

Surely I would NOT watch.... ..most of the garbage spewing out of a Movie Theatre Near You. Also, although I CAN watch sicknasty shit (if on DXM) it's the petty banality that's gets to me. Watching CNN, the Home Shopping Network or PAX would probably make me cry like a baby.

Eraserhead is just stupid. I'm sure that if I watched it while tripping, I'd just wonder why I was watching such a stupid movie. LOL.
Elvish, yeah war films and footage are really heavy on DXM. I find that odd, considering DXM usually dissociates me from my normal emotions, but for whatever reason war footage becomes a little too intense, disturbing and upsetting. It's not the kind of thing that could make me cry on DXM (which is a foreign concept on DXM), but which makes me wonder how the species which I belong to is capable of so easily slaughtering each other systematically. Happiness shouldn't be that far away, but wars happen by our own choice.

>>You're just sitting there absorbing the colors and the sounds.... I can't stand that while tripping. My mind must be active
I understand what you're saying and I agree to some extent...but on high doses of either lsd or shrooms, conversation was never an option for me. Plus sometimes it's nice to do "ordinary" things while tripping. Ever read Yoko Ono's "Grapefruit"?? I highly recommend it. It's the defining trip book that started the genre.
A few years ago when I was out of work on lay off, my car's transmission decided to eat itself. And for 3.5 months I was out of work cause it took that long to save up the unemployment checks to get a new tranny. Well, three weeks before the car died, I came into 2 vials of great lsd. Just so you know...unemployment and a broken car + 2 vials of lsd = great time. I found that doing chores like washing dishes, dusting and vaccuming were simply AWESOME while tripping. Never underestimate the happiness and joy that is right in front of you. Whether you're on a drug or not.

Hey I'm new HERE, but not new to the world of psychedelics (namely mushrooms). One movie I greatly enjoyed watching was Waking Life, a sundance festival movie. The colors, movement and philosophical dialougue help actually guide a trip into a different direction than I'm sometimes used to. The movie sometimes has the ability to really break down your ego to the point where it becomes almost frightening, but if you keep a stronghold of who and where you are, this shouldn't be a problem. The movie, both insightful and frightening parts, lead you to an infrastructure where the layman viewer does not typically journey. I definately suggest watching this movie under the influence of a moderate dosage or during the comedown of a higher dosage.
Another movie I've viewed whilst 'hippie-flipping' actually was 'Bully'. This movie, with it's violent murder scene (the scene I actually started watching the movie FROM) did not manage to take me into the ugly realms of a bad trip. I remained grounded and enjoyed all the different perspectives the movie provided. The evil characters (those who attained a rush from the said murder scene) were distorted and easily depicted as 'evil' whereas the people who were moral and ethical in their plea to come forward seemed more angelic and in a pure light. I tried clockwork orange and the shining while shrooming as well as the other famous "Full metal jacket", i hated them all, especially since i plan on joining the service, FMJ fucked my mind the worst. Stanley Kubrick is a sick guy.
some crazy shit to watch is stuff on tlc about animals, but mute it and listen music about politics like some older beatles stuff even.
Animal farm is cheesy but since while tripping symbolism is awesome, its not a bad movie, a lot funnier than normal.

Viginis, I think you misinterpreted Bully ;-). No one in that movie is moral or ethical in their plea to come forward. You must've been pretty high when you watched it.
coastal, A friend of mine took his first 3P trip while watching FMJ in the theater. He told me he kept getting confused with the movie and his personal life. He would imagine his friends getting drafted and having to go to Vietnam, and all he could think was, "I gotta stop this war." :P

You should of watched Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, that's the best Kubrick film to watch triping.
Anyway, things I surely wouldn't watch tripping would be.. From Justin to Kelly, Crossroads, or Glitter. Those would induce a hellish nightmare trip that would probably force me into a state of suicidal depression.
Princess Mononoke would probably be a good film to watch, or yeah, the Animatrix would be amazing. Also try Bj?rk's video collection, Volumen. I think a collection of short films/videos is much better than one long movie, it's hard to concentrate on a single theme for a couple hours.
