PH stabilization with coir substrate recipe

My substrate recipe is simple. coir, verm, gypsum (71%/22%/7%)
My question to you, dear shroomerites, are whether or not a PH stabilizer would be beneficial or not. If so, what, and how much? And what is the technical reasoning for a ph buffer?
It is my understanding that it somehow inhibits bacterial growth?
Much love.

Ah what the heck, I'll give u some info luvins lol
Your substrate recipe is fine as-is as far as ph is concerned.
You need not worry about adjusting your substrate ph though.
People only really get anal about ph when it comes to casing layers, in which case, a ph of about 8 is your sweet spot. But the species of mushroom that I'm assuming you're growing doesn't benefit much from a casing layer anyway.
The gypsum in the substrate acts -somewhat- as a ph buffer but it's primarily to provide calcium and sulphur.
Coir/verm/gypsum is a great substrate. The only way I see to add upon it is more additive ingredients to diversify the nutrition such as coffee, castings, straw etc...

Ah, indeed. Thanks for the info!
I suppose it will take some heavy research to determine what ingredients to add with regard to what nutrition needs to be added.
I tend to find recipes that are all over the place with relation to ingredients and ratios. What would be especially useful is some list of what mushrooms need/want for growth so that I could check them off while developing a better recipe. Do you know of any helpful resources, save, of course, the search bar?
This kind of thing tends to be tricky to research.

Most coir is around 6.5 so your ph with the above listed will be fine.
