Starting an outdoor bed with spent or contaminated substrate?

If one wanted to move a fully colonized substrate with very minor contam issues outside, how would you do it?
I was thinking I would dig a hole, fill it with spawn, and cover with wet straw and keep moist? Does this sound like a good idea?
Would it help it more to mix the colonized substrate with more substrate?
Any tips? Thanks.

I was really hoping to find a more specific tek. That says to just take an old casing and throw grass on top of it.
Would straw be better to use?

I would suggest using a smaller but deeper hole, pre water it and the area if it's dry and fill with only spent substrate. Apply a 1/2" casing layer using the local dirt then maybe a very thin layer of straw as a sun shade if needed. There's always a chance of a contam, but keeping the substrate together and producing a quick flush is better than trying to colonize something bigger and getting nothing IMO.

Great grow, man. I like that you planted grass. Do you think planting grass in it really helped? Would you still plant grass in your substrate for smaller grows? Any other tips?
I think the grass helped a little bit for moisture retention, but I'm sure straw would work just as good if you wanted to use that. The two things that affect your grow the most are pests and the weather . (Especially slugs!) Once you see one fruit being eaten by slugs(and other bugs), every fruit thereafter will have the same fate.
If you're doing a small scale outdoor grow, try a flowerpot. You don't really have to worry as much about the above mentioned things. Make sure the flower pot has holes at the bottom or be very careful not to over water.

i had ONE contamed BRF cake 95% colonized, early pinning blah blah
i dug a 1' X 1' hole, bought a bag of cow manure, and did this
1) put BRF cake in ziploc freezer bag and crumbled.
then went to my hole, and layered
Cow manure a little substrate cow manure a little substrate cow manure a little substrate cow manure Grass clippings from mowing my lawn on top
then watered
2 months later i got my first flush of 265 grams wet.
worked for me in my climate.
