Don't feel bad. I just got done with a 4 month run of Mex. A that produced no stones. 1 pea sized stone out of 8 jars.
I believe starting them on Agar helped 100%. Part of it to I think was luck. I have 4 jars inoculated with LC that are doing nothing at all yet.
I also think if/when you shake can play a part.
EDIT: I also believe light from day 1 helps (which is already known).
Maybe also bacteria contam? I think possibly my Mex had bacteria, although they smelled perfectly fine to me, but how else do you explain it?
In my experience so far, if they don't produce any sclerotia right away (like first month after germination) they probably won't.

hamloaf said: Cool. My attempt at these failed. I used Birdseed though. I still have two jars of fully colonized birdseed that tried to form stones and still smells pretty mushroomy. They are 10 months old too. I don't quite know what to do with em' though yet. Prolly just try to fruit them for the prints and start again.

Yeah, nothing wrong with that. It is also possible once you case them they will then produce sclerotia.

Yeah. Actually, technically not a fail either (YET). What do you mean by case them? I know what casing is but since the word casing has a double meaning sometimes in this hobby, I just wanna' make sure we're on the same page as far as all that goes.

Yeah, apply casing layer.
Atl#7 is supposed to grow larger sclerotia then other sclerotia strains as far as I've heard.
Sponsers on here have Atl#7

I just havested 1.7lbs of stones from that tub. I hope the genes were passed on through those spores.

NICE
If you could see my jars you would know they certainly were!
Where on earth did you get them, a vender?
PS- I just made a tray with 3/4 of a jar to coir/verm. It was started with LC so it was just starting to make sclerotia. When it is done I will case it and go for fruits. Wish me luck! How long did you have to wait for pins?

I love seeing that the descendants of Wing's awesome grow are producing well! Wing sent me a print as well, but unfortunately I did not get the opportunity to make use of it

UNBELIEVABLE!!! Can't imagine Atl#7 genes being any better than this.
Every jar has a MIN. of 2 golfball sized sclerotia

i have about 25-30 p. galindoli plates and non of them produce sclerotia, some of the mycelium is really dark brown and i usually pick sectors from those parts (as RR was suggesting in his posts). yesterday i opened one of the jars that had literally ONE tiny sclerotia formation and i cloned it on agar, maybe this will help. i'll just fruit remaining jars as non of them look like it will produce stones anytime soon

I inoculated a dish with a VERY TINY amount of spores(was barely even visable) and have 2 sclerotia already on that plate. I don't know if inoculating it lightly had anything to do with it, or just luck. Other plates where I used more spores produced no sclerotia. The plates I used to inoculate my jars had no sclerotia.
