Ancient tree, struck by lightening.
A very special creek.

A pleasing land of drowsy head it was,

And of gay castles in the clouds that pass,
For ever flushing round a summer sky. -Castle of Indolence

What the hell? Where'd you find that? Is it really that big or is it forced perspective?

She doesn't even look excited about it, just like "Oh look, I found another giant jawbone."

I'm think it's maybe just an Elk lower jawbone and the camera man is holing it in his left hand and his girlfriend is in the background.

This thread has been slipping a bit, and its some of the best weather to get out there and hike. From a hiking/exploring standpoint, I hate where I am living right now. From a friends and family standpoint, it is great. But I just can't get over the fact that there is nothing more than a couple areas with 1-3 miles trials in the woods. Nothing where I can go hike for 5 hours and not see a soul. Then go back to the same trail head 5 more times and never see the same things from the times before... Southern Illinois and its vast and exquisite hiking possibilities spoiled me.
But I am posting because I think I found out what these things are, thought you might be intersted Shroom Detective since you attempted a bit of detective work when I first posted it. I am part of the 'plant identification' group on facebook and someone posted this on there and it showed up on my wall oddly enough.
Mesembryanthemum crystallinum

If you guys are taking pictures I sure hope you post them on here because I miss seeing everyone's great photo's, especially since I am so limited these days. As of now though I am going to try and take a few pictures outdoors even if it isn't in my favored environment.

Awesome, I think birds will rule the planet once they evolve a set of opposable thumbs.
It's neat down here. I'm digging school, and I love being somewhere with new places to explore. I saw a badass cottonmouth today, and my first Pygmy Rattler.

That cottonmouth doesn't look too happy to have his picture taken, awesome shots!
