Hah, that's nice. I found a real toilet just sitting on a riverbank once, I was too tired to find a way to get close enough for a pic. I really wish I had now.

Beautiful sunset over my back yard the other day:

Hiking trail where I work:

My two cats drinking water from the lake, watching the sun rise :

Back yard from when a tornado went over our house:

Here's some more random ones I took last fall. I sometimes ride around for hours looking for pretty fields and landscapes to photograph. The only thing I dislike about it is that I feel like I'm trespassing on people's property and I'm worried someone is going to come out and shoot me.

I desperately need a better camera.

Here's my first attempt at night time lighting shots, taken a mere 15 mins ago in my front yard. It's a light show out there right now, sometimes the lighting is white, then purple and even a few times the sky turned blue.

Some random shots of the last few days, and an epic 31.5 mile hike (towards the end), the hike took from 8am to 11pm, at times I was wading neck deep in swamps at night, holding camera above the water. It was a blast, the guy with me was scared as shit, he was nearly in tears. When we finally made it back to my vehicle we both couldn't believe we were finally there, I told him "we're there man, I see the car" and he nearly cried with happiness. I'd do it again anytime, and plan to.

The last 7-10 miles of the hike were all flooded out, we had been hiking in swamp for about the last 4 miles when we ran across a small island at around 10pm, it was the only solid land we had seen so we both climbed up to take a break, took off our gear and laid down.. stars were peaking through the trees and it was peaceful, just some frogs and crickets. Not sure what caused it other than the 13ish hours of exertion but it was the most relaxing moment in my life, just laid there for about 20mins before suiting up and finally making the final push to the end. Through all the pain, that first drink of water when we reached the nearest gas station was well worth it. We hadn't had any good drinking water since noon and were both severely dehydrated, it was amazing to feel the water travel down into my stomach, never been so thirsty.
I live for this shit.

Sounds like an epic hike Tmethyl. Did you plan on being out all day or did it just happen like that? Cool lightning pics as well.

It was one I'll never forget Dodgem, I had planned to hike until dark but kept running into swamps, ponds and whatnot which slowed my finish dramatically, I ended up 4 hours later than planned, but not a big deal.

It was our first night on the Allagash River last year.
The last two were take the same night. We had been watch the light show to the south for a while and could see the orange glow over the trees so we got in a canoe to take those pics.

Nice shot Tmethyl! Star shots are always amazing! Have you thought about trying to do any star trails?
How come you didn't use a larger aperture for the shot? Just curious.

I just forgot to adjust it actually I'm going to experiment tonight some more. Maybe try f/2.8 with 10 sec exp. I think 30sec exp is too long because the Earths rotation makes the stars have a motion blur. As you can see in the pic.

I love that pic Urban, it's like she is an elf guiding you down the path, looking back to check on you. Reminds me of LOTR for some reason.
