Random Outdoor Pictures Thread * 7
    #16763150 - 08/30/12 10:22 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Hey everyone, I just wanted a place for myself and anyone else who would like to, a thread to post random pictures of anything outdoor related.

For me, I go hiking 2-3 days a week, and fungi hunt during every hike, sometimes up to 30 miles, I recently began bringing a camera with me. So I'll start off with some of my best recent pictures, all from this month, some a new as a few days.

This is a rare find in my area, it's conifer log, loaded with a mushroom which I have never seen, up to this point, it is Xeromphalina Campanella. I took some shots, then hiked back a few days later to see if anything had changed:

Here is the cleanest most pristine Cubensis (local gulf strain) I have ever found, I hope to top this one day, but it's not likely:

Some Cantherellus Cinabarinus, awesome color:

An amazing local passion flower, they are hard to catch blooming, as they only stay open for a short time, they also produce big fruits:

This is a picture of Leucocoprinus Birnbaumii , I love this picture because it almost displays the complete cycle of fruiting fungus, from mycelium, to primordia, to pins, to fruit:

Florida sunset, on the gulf. Crystal River FL:

A cow that really didn't like me, and displayed threats, it was fun, I was kind of shaky, hence the blurry pic:

A deep pit/crater about 15 miles from any civilization, long hike to get here, wonder if anyone else has ever hiked to this spot besides me:

A few more:

An turtle I found while hiking a pasture, there were some ponds nearby, but he was way out of place. I think he was shroom hunting like me.

A really big caterpillar, munching some plants.

A flower I cannot identify, I've always called them "vagina flower"

Some Florida clouds brewing, it rained on me shortly after this pic, I was miles from my destination and just had to push on through the storm.

A decent shot of an area I was hiking

Some cool fungi on a deadwood

More to come, hiking tomorrow morning!

An unidentified coral fungi found today:

I can hike harder than my partner here, he was hot, tired, and worn out, he laid down in the water and watched me keep walking, just as I was leaving his sight he jumped up and grabbed the lead again. He is learning to be a better hiker :p
But he has a ways to go.

A random flower I found:

I asked because your environment seems awesome! reminds me more of the mental pictures I get of the deep south, that's why I asked. Swamps and everything, and I didn't think they had any of that stuff down by the coast.
FL seems like a really cool place overall, once you subtract all the fucked laws and especially drug laws. I dig all the picture I always see of it, but most people seem to hate living there.
P.S. is it true that the further north you go in Florida the further "south" you get? Always heard that and thought it was funny.
