That spider is freaking rad! Any more pics? How big was it? Could you send me a copy of the pic? I have a friend that would love to see this. I would have had to take it home.

It was about 1.5" at least, almost like a small tarantula.
Heres two different shots

Really a beautiful spider.
I sent a picture of it to this guy to see if he might know what it is.

Got the email back from Dr. Edwards on the spider.
"Hi Jon, It is Ctenus captiosus, the Florida wandering spider, family Ctenidae. Generally these are found in wooded areas. While it looks like a harmless wolf spider, it has venomous (to humans) relatives in South America, and the jury is still out on how venomous it might be. It may be harmless, but better to not take chances, so just leave it alone. I’ve never seen one with a purple sheen before, very pretty."

A few from the past week or so. Got a ton of rain a few days ago so had to check out the waterfall by me. Me and the roommate sat behind it yesterday and smoked a J

These are all from my bike rides to some wineries. Man I love this weather and longer days!

Yea, that spot was pretty awesome. I saw at least a dozen very cool wild flower species, and got to listen to the wind and the birds while I smoked bowls by the riverside
I pretty much felt like this all day

Great animal shots midnight. That double-crested cormorant is an odd looking one.
Couple from today. I really want to get in where that 2nd picture is looking. It's at the damn for a good sized lake an usually doesn't have much water, but there is some nice white water down there when it is overflowing.

Awesome photos everyone, I love checking this thread every time.
A few additions of my latest random:
Black Berry bloom

Daughter

The most hated Caterpillars in FL

Outdoor birthday party lol

Found this at the Birthday party

A small flower, only 1/8"

Doesn't this spiders head look like a skull?

'nother small flower, this one about 1/3"

Water Strider, very hard to photograph these!

Some peoples nightmare, I rather enjoyed their company.

Immature Lantana blooms

Anyone ever been near the ocean in the southern US and remember getting bit by little gnats? Most people call them No-See-Um's. They really suck, I took this photo of one on my elbow, to display just how small(but painful) they are.

Cat eye from the side

Really cool bug I found last night, it hopped like a grass hopper, but weaved it's head side-to-side like a mantis. Can anyone ID?

Carpenter ants and larvae

Galls (from parasitic wasps)

Dog eye

This may look bazaar but it's a tick in my dogs eyelid.

My Nephew Kylar

Wife

A friends kid

Lavender

Getting really random now... marijuana resin

Peacock rock

Marijuana Blooms

FAIYAH This one was a stump which we were burning, which was hollow, and it made some cool shots.

(break to upload more)
Carrion Beetle

Flies

My cat Athena is unlike any other cat, as she watched my dogs leave hiking with me every day, she started coming along, and she acts like a dog now. She hikes just ahead of me, constantly looking back to check on me. Never had a cat that wanted to hike with me before, it's so awesome hiking with a cooperative cat that doesn't run away.

A cool mosquito I let have a bit for a shot

Did a quick skim (which still took a good while) through your pictures Tmethyl. Going to have to come back when I have more time.
It seems like you genuinely enjoy taking all this pictures, and it shows with the quality your photos exhibit. Great stuff and keep it up!

A homemade flash diffusor, it's best not to use diffusors for eye shots though, just use a normal flash.
