Dear god. If that was the only photograph to have ever been taken it would be worth it. Is it too much to say that Rev's picture is the meaning of life?

Too much?!?! How about too little.
Here are some random ones from the past week or so, nothing too great.

Here comes another, folks. Spent more time hiking N.FL
Orchid, found in Oaks (Quercus virginianus)

Found on Oleander

A species of Passionflower I havent seen before

Cool moth

Some sort of nectar eating fly on wild flowers.

These are the flowers of a plant called Ground Oaks, they make edible fruits, but the fruits tasted like Elmers glue to me

Next 3 are on wildflowers

Katydid of some sort?

Really cool wilfflower

Don't even ask me how I nailed the timing on this one, it was purely accidental. He was sitting on that leaf, I aimed, framed, and focused, hit the shutter button and he began to take off as the flash struck.' Perfection!!

Daddy-long-legs in ambush position, I watched him nestle in, really cool

Friendly anole

I fricking love this spider, jumping species I think.

Pretty butterfly on not-so-pretty dung.

... no swimming here.

More wild flowers

Check out this timing

Awesome moth

I ended up hiking a little too far and was walking back in the dark, here are the shots I got of that.

Bonus shots Dancing at a funeral

I truly envy you. Are you making any money from your pics yet? That would be a good way to sustain a life on the road.

That's one of the things I'm focusing on right now. Building a site, marketing myself. There are a few other things I can do for cash but I'd rather focus on photography. My wife has some ways to bring in cash too, but I want a backup plan B, C, D, E, F, G, and H before I take off. I'm going to make it work no matter what.
Basically my worst case scenario on the road trumps my best case scenario right now; working 60hours a week only to support a life I loathe. I am in no way free right now(most of us arent) and only the idea of this escape keeps my mind at peace. Finally a means to an end after 10 solid years of deep regret. I would rather struggle to survive than maintain this worthlessness and repetitiveness.

Amen brotha. People keep asking me what I want to do when I graduate from grad school. The only reasonable answer I can come up with is 'be happy'. What that entails, I am not quite sure, but I will figure it out.
And here is one to keep the masses happy.

That's exactly my way of thinking. I wish I could join you, or at least catch you if you pull through my area. You have my support all the way.
Is your wife full steam on this plan as well? And don't forget your daughters education. Home schooling tends to make smarter kids anyhow.

Thanks Dodgem, you'll know soon enough. Just follow what you desire and don't get stuck like I did.
Domestic, I will be in your area, I can promise that. Just a matter of time. As for my wife, she is down wholeheartedly.. but I still don't know how. Its not like her to make decisions like these, I thought suicide was going to be my only way out for a long time. She surprised me, this is all mostly born in her head, not mine. While I dwindled away mentally feeling more and more hopeless she devised a brilliant master plan. Again, I never expected it. There is one way to accurately put my life and relationship into your perspective, but it depends on how well you decypher this video:
Just imagine the little bird is my once a week hike
Or the lyrics of Tools schism: http://songmeanings.com/m/songs/view/33646/
As for my kid, we will be home schooling for sure. Wife already has next Years curriculum ready but she will be learning so much more than just school work. I'm putting my heart into her education and mind.

Tmethyl, I haven't met you yet, but I'm sure it would be great to meet you in person. There are not many people who actually make the leap out of the standard life. Your plan sounds fantastic and I wish you all the best for it. (But please keep posting magnificent pictures too )

Woaro, I won't forget where I started, you should expect more pics from me rather than less. One of my main focuses will be shooting historic landmarks and landscapes, at night. But even more focus will be put on the small unknown places and deep forest hideaways. Going to take my time, spend a night or two at every location. Never getting on a single interstate highway.

Tmethyl your pictures just keep getting better.
If you want to take your photos to a paid level, id suggest sending some in to NatGeo, discovery, pbs and other companies like those.
Id start a blog/portfolio, and get ads on there so you get paid everytime someone visits your site. I would also start a flickr and submit photos to all the nature groups to get recognized some more. Also instagram and tag all the nature accnts.
