I thought the Gyms were not active out this way.
Shit is dry as a cracker out here right now. No rain for weeks.

Some species of gyms on the west coast are active, such as luteofolius, aeruginosus, braendlei and viridans. I am not positive about Gymnopilus luteus or Gymnopilus junonius but pretty sure they are not active on this side of the country.

Yes, I am with you all on this season getting started already...
And about luteofolius being active on this side of the country see this http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/15696064/page/3
I picked and photographed thousands of these from various wood chip piles. I never had any success with frying nor did any of my associates, but look how blue many of these are. There must be some activity in them. But bitter as bile from hell. Worse than peruvian torch.

You gotta eat a large amount. Best way is in tea. They are not exactly the same as normal Psilocybe species. All the weird chemicals in them make is a much different trip. I find it better to just photograph them and marvel at their beauty, smear some spores all over my clothing and move on to more prosperous grounds

nice man!
Just got back from a nice sunny morning ride to my newest additions, somebody (May the myco gods rain blue love all over your face) took their own personal time to clean up the area where I established a new az bed and a new cy bed by actually chopping and chipping the dead hardwoods within a 30yd radius and spread the chips evenly over the entire area, I had no idea this had happened and my cyan bed has now crept out to double it's original size.
got a beautiful shot of some aggressive mycelium but I'll have to wait until my wife gets home to upload because she has the USB cord.

I would be wary of which kind of water you pour on your patches. Dont use city water thats for sure they put chlorine and supposedly sodium flouride in it. I would use either well water or spring water. Ima finally be able to snap some better shots for my sig. cant wait...i have a few spots i scoped out some intense cyan rhizos from last season/this summer that never showed fruits before, should hopefully fruit this season. If not im going to the coast for sure.

Alright, im gonna go check on my stuntzii lawn and also while im at it go hunting for pan subbs today in 90 degree sunny weather. There were some pan foes and boletes i found yesterday in a sprinkled lawn but my skater friend wanted to go skate so i had to leave. Lush rich lawns with sprinklers is where we should be hunting for now due to the 90degree weather

Let me know when your coming, I am a bit south of Portland but not to far. If you wait til November we could go to the coast and pick azurscens and cyanescens maybe beao's a fibs too and on the way there we could stop at a few clear cuts and pick some pelliculosa and silvatica I forgot to mention liberty caps we have those too!
