Liberty caps are one of the species I have never hunted for with success. But perhaps this can be the year for that to chance since I am going up to BC for the first time.
I am quit excited for this "wide open ended" adventure to begin!
Tell me your thoughts about Liberty Caps (at so I have heard) tending to have an exotic flavor to their trip?
I've only successfully hunted for p. cubensis and cyanescens, especially P cyanescens, in 2009 & 10... WOW
-------------------- "JUST FOCUS ON THE PRETTY STUFF" is what THEY clearly said to me while on fresh picked cubes in Florida. I was reflecting on stupid common life problems I had at the time, but luckily friendly little "cosmic critters" intruded, interrupting my lame-brain moment with that short & simple message of what I now see as being pure universal GOSPEL TRUTH for all of LIFE. That profound little event instantly changed & brightened my whole trip, & it ultimately changed me into a more positive minded person in life. Plus that was definitely my 1st totally convincingly real encounter with THEM & is one reason why I totally believe in what I choose to call ELVES as being absolutely REAL. They have a baeocysin content at about the same as azures almost twice as much as noted in baeocystis. there psilocybin content is equivilent to cyanescens if not a little higher and they have one of the lowest psilocin contents of any psilocybin mushroom. I tend to get the cosmic giggles and DMT like yawns from them.

Have you ever ate P. baeocystis, or P. azurescens? In my experience, libs have nothing on either of those species.
Also, keep the weather and God/ Prayer comments out of the thread. Posts bitching about the weather are breaking rules, and praying has no place in MH&I, unless it's to ancient aliens
Pins just so you all know it's just a matter of getting out and looking, not sittin around

I was just comparing a chemical analysis from "Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World" -Paul Stamets. I have not bio assayed P. Baeocystis since I was a young teen. I have yet to with P. Azurescens.
The diference in effects are probably due to the psilocin contents as P. Azurescens containing .38% Per dried gram P. Baeocystis .59% and p. semilanceata contains a mere .0% -? well it hasn't been recorded in lab grows.
I will shut up now before this gets moved to the pub or something.

Well, they didn't get very big before starting to drop spores. I imagine it's just too warm and dry out for these early guys. I'm just thinking of these as a nice early treat, and now it's time to wait for the main flush.
It's windy as hell right now in the Willamette valley, so you can see they're starting to dry out. But the good news is that hopefully the spores will be traveling all over in this gusty wind. I'm going to let them drop for a couple more days before picking and printing.

ps, I know this is technically cultivation but I figured people wouldn't mind the occasional picture post while the season is still really slow.

Beautiful man, It's great you are leaving them to drop spore (coming from a another valley resident, thank you very much). I hope to have something like this later in the season, When did you start the cultivation? I have always thought they need near freezing temperatures to fruit.

I started in January, and I think fruiting temp is more around 50*. These popped up right after a cold spell where it dipped down to around 48* overnight a couple nights.

I am very happy to report that I have my first cyanescens of the year!

Just to give an idea of the location.

They came up in this spot last year and since then the mycelium has doubled or tripled!

Anybody without previously discovered/maintained patches finding anything yet? I went out today and found some good looking habitats, but the woodchips and soil are dry like the dust bowl. Rain is in the forecast at the end of the week Sorry, I generally wouldn't make a post like this but I am just curious.

Congrats, man! That's a nice patch. I've only started looking around town near Portland. Hoping to fix my car this week so I can get out to the coast soon.

Would like to say that in Vancouver, BC there has been only 7.9mm of rain from July 24th to October 5th, with an annual average of 92mm during that period of time. Also the temperatures are quite warm with an average of 17-19 degree Celsius today from an annual norm of 10 degrees Celsius.
