first bulk gronw (i must be missing something about mono tubs)

its almost time for my first bulk grow and i have afew options, making a fully automated green house but ive also been looking into monotubs
ive read thread after thread about people making monotubs and then literally just leaving them until its time to harvest.i must be missing something because if it was that easy wouldn't everyone do it ?
L W H i have a 31"x21"x75" closet to work out of and thats all the room i have. so i was looking to get everyone input on what my best bet would be. a 4 tier greenhouse or afew monotubs stacked on top of one another

It's called neglect. The reason not everyone does it is because they don't yield nearly as much as paying attention.

monotubs, and similar devices such as the sgfc (although requires a bit more maintenance) are great because they provide exactly what the mushroom needs (fresh air exchange and humidity) and can often be neglected till harvest and have great results.
i highly recommend either form of fruiting chamber for they have been tried, tested and true over the course of the last few years, and they are proven to be very effective in creating beautiful flushes for many different species of mushroom.
there is no reason not to look into working with monotubs
much love

With the amount of space u described...personally I would suggest getting get a 4 teir...I have one....its set up and looking sexy..waiting on timers and a tub for the bottom.
I too am working in a closet and am waiting for my first 2 monotubs to colonize....for space reasons I would go with the greenhouse....moving these 66qt tubs in a small area is a bitch, period. Trays in a GH just seems easier to deal with for me, and takes up less space, with the added benefit of being somewhat automated.
Plus a greenhouse full of mushies just looks sexier to me than monotubs....lol

so im thinking ill give the monotub a shot, i would preffer to put the substrate in 5 or 6 small aluminum trays then just putting it all straight into the tub so that if theres some type of contam i have half a shot of saving some of it. also easier to take out and less cleaning do you think there would be a negatives to that ?

not yet....im debating on whether or not i should seal up the bottom and cut holes for the fan and FAE....or just leave the bottom open with a small fan on the bottom shelf facing up....it just something about cutting the plastic that makes me cringe.

Hahahahahahaha, yea, and then there's that. But I cant really get away from that because my humidifier is in there too, and im not piping it in, so I'm gonna have to risk something, lol...

Monotubs always seemed like more work for me.
I have a greenhouse made out of PVC covered in vapor barrier foundation plastic.
I placed cabinet lights in there (contained 18inch 18watt unit with plug)
And I placed a coolmist in there to go on for 30 mins every 2 hours.
Keeps it at 80-100% humidity constantly, with FAE being provided by a shitty velcro door.
It's great, I have plastic bins from the dollar store that I can place between the PVC bars, there aren't even shelves to clean, just the plastic walls, and the PVC crossbars.
When a bin is done, I take it out, and clean it, in the sink easy. A large monotub I have to take to the bathtub, just creates more work for me.
As long as you keep the spore levels down, it works out pretty good. Change the water in the humidifier every 2-3 days. And bleach the walls once a month, if that. I really just take care of standing pools of water, and any debris.
Really it's not something to start with though. Compared to a $15 rubbermaid with some holes punched in it, this things got $30 worth of cabinet lights, $30 coolmist, $30 in timers, and another $100 in PVC and plastic wrap. The bins also cost some cash, about another $20 for 20 bins.
It's cube paradise, but you should work up to it.

Thats what im saying montubs cost only what the bin costs theres sooo mich more that goes into a greenhouse and from all the threads i e read there doesnt seem to be too much of a differance in yeld
Also thas why i was saying if i do a monotub instead of putting the sub right into the bin i would put it in afew smaller aluminum containers in the tub

I'm confused by your question. You do damion5050 coir tek by following the tek.

Damiens coir tek is really just hydrating the coir.
My wise words on coir are, put it in a clean pillowcase you don't mind losing, with the vermiculite. Add the pillowcase to the bucket. Add hot water. Make sure its all mixed up inside the pillowcase.
Ring out/squeeze out excess water, as much as you physically can, and then some.
Then just use it. Coir is pretty sterile, same with vermiculite. Do a test bin, and if that contaminates, get yourself a large metal pot, a meat thermometer, and pasteurize it properly.
