The idea that there are so many skill trees to try and so many endless weapon combinations that you can get always kept me going and made it fun. Borderlands is also infinitely more fun with friends. I can't keep playing it by myself for hours on end either.

The game is pretty funny once you get to the DLCs. I think they made Borderlands 2 more like the DLCs, which is great.

But, Hey - to each his own!

I don't even wanna think how many hours the wife and I wasted on the first one!  We've had 2 pre-ordered for a long time.  I just hope they don't fuck up the local co-op like so many franchises in the past have done.  When you got something that works well don't go trying to fix it!!

the new multiplayer/co-op is supposed to be kick ass

@"tothesummit"

From some quick research, I have found some support of it being 2plyr splitscreen if thats what your looking for

Yeah, its supposed to be 2-player split screen still, but other franchises have fucked that up royally in the past!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed with this one.

For one thing, they need to stick with side-by-side split screen.  Everyone has widescreen TVs anymore and top-bottom split is bullshit.  And they need to keep it where the local co-op can play through the entire campaign together. This feature was deleted on a few franchises and they added in these shitty mini-mission for the co-op.

I remember some having the choice of vertical or horizontal on some titles, and I agree that vertical is better on widescreen, but I'm not totally sure on BL2

When playing racing games, I prefer the top/bottom split, but agreed on this. Then again, there is support on the playstation 3 for dualscreen view, if you have a 3d telly, player one sees his view, player 2 sees their view using polarised glasses. Anyone else will see a blur.

I played borderlands but I just got boooored with it. I played as soldier, than sharpshooter as I liked the idea of having a bird so I could say when I launched him:

(ignore the laugh class)

Funny story.

We had Borderlands 2 pre-ordered so I picked it up after work Tuesday.  But we play cards every Tuesday night with friends so we didn't get a chance to start it that night.  So last night, after the wife gets home from work and we eat dinner, we pop it in and get ready for epicness.  As my wife is inputing her name the PS3 shuts down.  I look at her and ask "What did you do?!".  She swears she didn't do anything, so I turn it back on and....YLOD!

LOL!  We were slightly pissed, to say the least.  It was no surprise since our PS3 is 6 years old.  I figured it wouldn't last forever.  But we were itching to play Borderlands so bad that we went right out and bought a new PS3 on the spot!  Now I'm gonna take my old one down to the game repair place and have him fix it for me so we'll have 2 of them up n running at the house.  I don't want to get rid of my old one because its the model that had the backwards compatible hardware in it.  I still use it to play all my PS1 and PS2 games.  And hey, with 2 machines now we will finally be able to play some games together that never offered local co-op.

Im really loving this game. I played the hell outta the first one too, and this has kind of the same feel to it, with a lot of improvements. I love too that they fixed up some of the little things that were annoying in the first. Like picking stuff up from ammo chests, no more pounding the X button to pick it all up, now you just hit it once and it takes everything.

Also, Tiny Tina is a badass little bitch

Yeah i have lol, the first time i shot him with an explosive rifle that sent him flying off the cliff, so i had to leave and come back.

Ive been playing this game a sickening amount since it came out. Im sittin at level 50, 100% completed the first playthrough, and ran through the whole main story line and a few side quests in Vault Hunters mode. Finally killed terramorph today too, and i did it solo in under a minute haha.

Thats 'Crazy Earl'.  You did a bunch of missions for him in the first Borderlands.  The wife and I still quote him all the time from the first game.  She'll call me from the other room and I'll reply in my best Crazy Earl voice..."Wha chyoo want!?"

I like how many characters were carried over and new characters that were added have ties to old ones.  If you didn't play the original heres a few examples...
-The four playable characters from the first game are storyline NPCs here.
-Many other NPCs returned like Scooter, Dr. Zed, Moxxi, Crazy Earl, and Patricia Tannis.
-Ellie (the fat chick) is Scooters sister (and Moxxi is there mom, in case you missed that).
-Tiny Tina turns out to be Mordecai's (one of the original playable characters) sister if you listen to her dialogue.

Thats what i use too. Bee shield and the Conference Call shotgun just destroy shit. Ends up between 150-300k damage a shot. I can drop Terramorphous in like 15-30 seconds playing solo.

I've caught a couple references to pop-culture that made me laugh.  Both times I had to explain to my wife why I was laughing so hard.

-At one point Handsome Jack randomly goes into a whole "double rainbow" routine.

-One time I tried to talk to a random woman and she said "I used to be a Vault Hunter like you, but then I took a bullet to the knee".

I wonder how many others I missed.

so I recently did the mission for dr. zed where you gotta go get the electric gun or whatever badass machine gun it is, and kill 25 bandits with it.  after turning the quest in does he take the gun back?  it had like 300cap or something nuts.  its not in my inventory anymore so I hope he took it and i didn't sell it or drop it on accident

just hit lvl 50 with zero. I only found like maybe 3-4 orange weapons.

the first one i got was around lvl 22 and i hit 3 borderlands symbols on the slot machine. can't remember what it did, but im pretty sure it was a shotgun.

the only other one i remember, cuz i still have it, is one i cant find on any of the wiki lists.

it is an assault rifle i got after beating the big bullymong right in the beginning (true vault hunter mode). I was about lvl 33 and it does approx. 3100 dmg, 20 rounds, great accuracy. but the cool thing about it was that it did secondary explosive damage. so say you shot something with just one bullet, it would do 3100 and then 2 seconds later cause an explosion doing 3-5k.

really cool, i used it almost exclusively from lvl 33-39.

but with Zero, i got a pistol that only does like 4k dmg, 8 rounds, 1.5 reload, but does 100% melee damage.

i can take out 20 enemies at my level without firing a bullet. just do the phantom thing and kill them in one hit and move onto the next one.

i looked at the mechromancers skill tree. doesnt look that fun. neither does the siren. commando and berzerker look fun, but i think Zero looks like the most fun.

zero is ok so far.  first roll so far.  I really liked the hunter the first game, but this is a different.  I think the guy with 2 guns will be more fun.  I liked the hunter setup a lot better though.  the game itself fixed a ton of problems though and it's a lot better than the first but it seems really similar still.

Been playing the Commando here.  The 'Longbow' skill is the best!  I see a group of enemies from a distance and before I start laying in to them with my sniper rifle I drop my turret right in the middle of them first.
