L-Tyrosine + opiates or mescaline cacti 1

The latex of the Papaver somniferum, the opium poppy, has been shown to convert tyrosine into the alkaloid morphine and the bio-synthetic pathway has been established from tyrosine to morphine by using Carbon-14 radio-labelled tyrosine to trace the in-vivo synthetic route .
Mescaline producing cactus bio-synthesize tyrosine into mescaline when injected with it . [6]
from erowid:
"Doping": Adam Gottlieb, in "Peyote and Other Psychoactive Cacti" reports that the mescaline content can be increased by injection of dopamine, or a mixture of tyrosine and dopa. The treatment should be done on water starved cactus, and harvesting should wait for four weeks (for dopamine, or six weeks for tyrosine and dopa). The book recommends a saturated solution of free base dopamine in a .05 N solution of HCl. Instructions are to inject at the base of the plant and repeat again every 3-4 inches up the column of the plant following a spiral pattern.
Cool beans.

I have been really diggin l-tyrosine lately. I have been experimenting with chemicals of all sorts for many years to work with my depression/ chronic nightmares. It seems to have the most promise so far. I have found things like herbs and other chems that work for a time or 2 and then grow a tolerance, or have other side effects. But tyrosine has been working really well with no noticeable side effects.
I usually combine it with choline and piracetam.

Tyrosine taken before opiate consumption has potential to both increase intensity and duration of effect.
Also, has the potential to optimize alkaloid density in mescaline producing cactu.

By what reaction is this taking place?
I'm not so sure just consuming them together is going to cause the conversion - I think the reaction is probably happening by the plant itselfs biosynthesis although I'm not sure. This does have some possible implications...
Would need soemone briany in these areas like Wiccan seeker or Mellowparty to confirm further.

Biosynthesis is performed by enzymes, and I seriously doubt consuming opium latex and L-tyrosine at the same time will get you higher. I would expect that concentrations of the enzymes need to be pretty high (beyond an overdose on the latex) to do any significant work.
Also I'm sure the pH environment is different in your stomach than in the plant, which will affect the performance of the enzymes.
I didn't know this about injecting the cactus though, this is very interesting.

Tyrosine is one of many amino acid building blocks plants use to synthesize these alkaloids. Since an alkaloid will have structural similarities to its precursor, and the action of an alkaloid on our neurons is due to its structure, it's possible that that the chemical precursor would exert some effect on the same neurons. Maybe potentiation, or replenishing transmitters?

Only thing is, the fact that morphine biosynthesis starts with tyrosine doesn't necessarily mean that the two chemicals would activate the same receptors. Morphine is a large complicated molecule compared to tyrosine and visually there's little resemblance. From what I found online there are 11 steps between tyrosine and morphine, seems unlikely that the synthesis could happen outside the plant easily either.
Regarding the cactus injection thing, a lot of people seem to believe that Adam Gottlieb just made a lot of stuff up and presented it as fact. If there is any proof that this works to increase mescaline, it's not well known in the forum world.
