A unique take on the "end of the world" trend that isnt.

Could the whole "The world is ending" idea possibly be a reflection of our own inner journey as individuals?
I have been there, where I think undoubetly the world is in a shape where it will end VERY soon. Then I become conscious, and realized that its MY CURRENT MINDSET that is being challenged, or rather my own insecurities that cause me to believe the world is ending. Sometimes, its even a comfort zone to believe the world is ending.
I think this is a relfection of each and every one of our very own inner journeys. The world could end tomorrow, and we wouldnt be better off knowing it today, or more accurate if we claimed it would end tomorrow, because someone , somwhere is thinking the world will end on some day soon.
Heres the catch-22, the scary part.
If enough people , going through their own inner journeys - feel that the world is going to end - how does this effect us as a whole? Could this perphaps create an "ending" to our current "world". Is this good or bad?

I remember when I used to attend a Souther Baptist church and the preacher would always incorporate the end of the world into his message. There is a constant belief in this church that the end times are very near. As a child, this definitely effected the way I pictured and perceived the world.

"Sometimes, its even a comfort zone to believe the world is ending."
I agree I dig how you said that - its like by having this mindset that "it" will all be over for the entire human race "soon," you are kind of dismissing some responsibility as a human being to assist in our repairing of the planet and our ways of living on it..
but of course that's just one direction
great post... interesting stuff

Yes lately i have been hearing ALOT about the end-times. From those books "rapture ready" and to the mayan calendar ending in 2012, the upcoming years ahead sounds like a lot is going to change. This all may not be true, but maybe nature is calling out to us? We are slowly destroying the earth with all this pollution and crap. Our technology...is capable of destroying the world. I hope we realize our negative impacts on nature and hopefully we can change them very soon...

I've never given much attention to this whole "end of the world" thing, but the more I think about it the more I think that it just might happen in my lifetime, but I doubt it.
I'd take this Mayan prediction more seriously than anything before, but I still don't buy it, how do they say that we're actually gonna go?

Read this about Terence McKenna, mayan prophecies, and mushrooms. Its sounds like a lot of BS, but...

Also, Mayans never said the world was coming to an end on Dec 21, 2012. Thats the end of the mayan calendar...whatever that means. Maybe its time for a change in this world though...

Fuck that.. Only a woman would be able to pull america out of all the shit it's gotten itself into. A black woman - that's who we need for a president. Fuck this hick bush bullshit...

If there is any real significance to this phenomenon, then I think it might symbolize the change that?s going on in the world, and us moving into the phase of our existence. Of course, this might just be the optimist in me talking?..
People have been predicting the end of the world for centuries, and so far, none of them have come true. That?s the problem with prophesying the end of the world, if you?re right, nobody is around to recognize it. That?s why I?m predicting that the world will still be around tomorrow, and when it comes true, I?ll be a true prophet!

To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

I think the details of what kind of world end is impending says a lot of the psychological mindset of the person who envisions this end. For example, very few people seem to envision a total destruction of the entire universe happening soon. But some people are concerned about the possibility that a large supernova might go off that destroys our solar system and many of its neighbours. Even more people are afraid that the planet Earth will be destroyed in some catastrophe that only involves this planet. And perhaps the most common scenario is that only the human race will be destroyed, or only your particular ethnic group, or maybe just your family, and most common of all, the realization that you yourself will come to and end.
That is scary, so it's natural to sublimate this fear into something enormously much larger. But it really isn't necessary
