Church Crowds at Restaurants

So... I kind of want to go sit down at some restaurant and get something to eat. I'd like to sip coffee and read my book while I wait for my food. The problem is the time and day. 12:30 p.m. on a Sunday means that all restaurants will be choked full with the post church service crowd. How can I possibly negotiate this predicament without being witnessed to or handed a Jesus pamphlet? I'm hungry
Seriously though, in this town I've been approached numerous times in the past few years by religious folk. Apparently I put off a sad and hopeless vibe which they prey upon. I usually just sit there uncomfortably with a poker face until they leave me alone. It's never an enjoyable experience.
I think by going out to eat right now I'm increasing my chances (in relation to going out on a different day/time) of being approached in such a way

Just ask them if they've heard the good news when they approach you?
And if they don't go away proceed to witness to them about the Flying Spagetti Monster. (May his noodley appendage bless you)

These are the kind of people that would probably pull you clear of a burning pile of twisted steel if you were in a car accident.
Count your blessings - you don't live in a slum full of criminals, you live around people that try to treat each other well. Boohoo

he may be right. i bet they don't say anything. I feel a little ashamed for assuming they would be annoying....... But I still think Jesus never existed and religions are a representation of some inner workings of human nature, perhaps just nature, and are all a facade of something we cannot understand.
edit- or just a facade of something that we make up...
cheers

Psssh, at least you get to eat... here in Portland, Sunday brunch means sitting on the sidewalk in line for no less than an hour and a half, then waiting a good hour after ordering... all for some fuckin' scrambles you could have made at home...
-------------------- Everything is better than it was the last time. I'm good. If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care. It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence. I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too. If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

Police: Woodburn priest chased boy down street after abuse
Quote:
The boy said he went to pack up his things when Perez went upstairs. "Father Angel called to him saying, 'Come back to bed,'" the police affidavit says.
Instead, the boy said goodbye and ran off.
Curths, who was hosting a barbecue when the boy showed up outside his house, said he looked distraught. "He just seemed really terrified, and he was almost in tears," Curths said.
When the pastor caught up to the boy outside Curths' house, wearing what Curths and his sister-in-law said looked like a burgundy Speedo swimsuit, the boy hid behind Curths.
"He was scared to death," Curths said. "It was like someone running from a ghost."
Curths said the boy told him that the man had "touched his privates."
Who should we be more wary of, gangbangers or fundamentalists? They are both threatening in their own way. The fundies are pedophile enablers, so I think I despise them more.

I feel your pain. I wash dishes at a restaurant across the street from a southern baptist church. Hell hath no fury like a hungry congregation. I've been witnessed to many times while taking wine glasses to the bar. Usually on easter sunday when the general consensus is "The lord is risen, let's get fucked up!" Drunk christians are hilarious... and incredibly annoying. Then again most christians are annoying.
