First time cakes or casing
    #1670883 - 06/29/03 05:24 AM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Well i know a one armed octopus that is growing for the first time, he wanted to know if he should stick with cakes the first time or go casings. He is growing in a rubbermade with perlite on the bottom and a air pump with bubbles, his strain is lol penis envy.

the right order is first cakes and then casings. But everyone knows that casings give better yields and they are very easy so why not start directly with casings?:-)
My first casings were sucessful so yours will be successful too! It's very easy! Easier than you can imagine.
Go casing friend!

Yes, go with casings. Even if this is your first time, if you read up on all that you can, and take all the appropriate measures, you will come out much happier. I have 2 friends that started directly with casings, and they have been fine.

I know around 100 people from these boards who started with something other than cakes, and they haven?t been fine.

I know someone you were successful at beginning with cakes and tried to go casing and had a lot of problems. Now, this person do both at the same time. Since he can grow cakes easily, he sticks with em and on the side, tries to make some casings. When he will fully master the art of casing, he will probably abandon cake methods for good.

Although it is possible to have successful first time casings, cakes have the advantage of less steps. The further steps are not complicated, but do offer more opportunities for mistakes.

I've always been fond of cakes for new cultivators for their faster results and an introduction to the mushroom life cycle. Cakes are the most basic of teks and it would be wise master these basics first.
