I got that all the time when I was a kid.  this is kinda off topic... one time when I was in second grade I had just gotten glasses and I had this crazzy visual while looking down.  I could only describe it as my eyes zooming out..it look like everything I was looking at (my feet) was about 400 feet down.  Then I started crying for some reason.

It was real as it gets tho, total different perception from just getting glasses

If you close your eyes and put pressure on them you'll see a kaleidoscope of bright colors after like 10-20 seconds that just gets brighter and crazier the longer you hold it.  If what you see is like this then maybe you have high blood pressure or the pressure of the vitreous humour in your eyes is to high.

Yeah audiophenix is describing it perfectly. It's certainly not floaters. Perhaps it's something neurological. Or even mystical.

Could also be a mundane optical phenomenon, just like floaters. I say this because of the apparent link with bright (sun)light.

What happens when there's bright light, is that the pupil contracts to let in less light (in order to prevent overexposure of the retina). As a result, however, the depth of field becomes larger. Compare the pupil with the aperture in a camera lens and you will (might) see what I mean. The human eye is, in that respect, no different from a camera system: there's a lens, an aperture (the pupil) and an array of photo sites (film, ccd or retina).

Due to the larger depth of field, objects extremely close to the lens can become visible. That is, after all, what floaters are too: little things (protein strands? muck?) floating on the moist surface of the cornea. Due to the large depth of field, these tiny objects leave visible traces on the retina - much like the dust particles on the sensor of a digital reflex camera that are also only visible at very small apertures.

The phenomenon described in this thread may be related. It could be some sort of anomaly in the eyeball, maybe a slight malformation of some kind. It's only visible in bright light because then, the pupil is smaller. In dim light, the pupil is wider and the depth of field is narrower, rendering any anomaly very close to the lens far too blurry to be able to see.

just did this. When I let the pressure off and opened my eyes I got a massive orange kaleidoscope for a second

I wouldn't get in the habit of doing this, You are basically cutting the blood flow off to your optical nerves. If you do it for too long I am sure you could experience some cell damage.

I looked at that, not sure if what they described, it sounds like it could be close. I did a google image search on the term and found this image which actually has something close to what I see.

I think the bottom left example is very close to how I see this visual. All the circles move into the center of my focal point like that.

It's one of those things I have literally been wondering if anyone has the same thing for years, and I mean since I was like 10 at least. I always forget to ask about it, it's just not something I think of often I guess because it is just normal for me.

It is super weird to finally know that It's not just me.
