hehehe they are my best workers in the garden. I let them nest up in my patio covering. It's really cool when my garden is in full swing I see them working constantly picking through my tomato plants, pulling off catepillars and other insects and then devouring them
Hell yea joe! Sweet pics that mantis is beautiful... I want to see him go after the stink bug

What weed strain is that? Looks like a pure sativa?

Its def sativa dominate something like 70/30 I think. It's San Fernando valley og kush the sativa heavy variety. Its really nice medicine very versatile good for day and night pain and depression. I can only seem to find the indica dominate at dispensaries now a days. Wish they would have this around more often
http://www.kindreviews.com/09/san-fernando-valley-og-kush/
Those plants in the pics above have went through hell so they don't look right at all.
This is how they look before I had a chance to do evil experiments on them

after experimenting with dolomite lime leeched water

Major lockout...
also here are the ones in the pictures with buds that I've been showing
This is how they entered into flowering... completely neglected most in straight peat and sand

My next grow should be much better now that I've learned everything you shouldn't do haha

Dangerous place to this fly. My greenhouse are full of hungry spiders cause outdoor temperatures are too cold up here north. That fly is first sign of summer to me.

It should be peruvian torch, one of the greeniest one of mine. Another p. torches are more grey/blue color with green.
That is typical size fly there but not the biggest.. Cactus spines are kind of short cause it have now some winter growth indoors under strong lights or at windowsill. It makes randomously one longer spine here or there but not so much.

Just FYI, earwigs chew on new Trichocereus growth. If you notice them getting chewed on at night then it's likely earwigs. They also like to live underneath pots in the day time.

That earwig is clearly checking out the area before inviting all his friends over for a dinner party. Preemptive strike, burn the back yard down. It has wasps and cactus eating earwigs, it'll be easier to start again.

About earwig. In here they are welcome to garden if population is small cause they will eat bad bugs, but problems will occur if population in garden are big and they don't have enough food from bugs cause they can eat everything. One earwig will not cause harm in garden so much but it will eat another predator bug eggs.
Correct me if I am wrong but I found information that plant tissue are only secondary food source to earwig bugs?

Earwigs mostly eat decaying organic matter. Some species hunt prey but aren't as common as those that eat plant material. All I know is they're my number One Trichocereus pest. Chew the tips, leaving blemishes on my green columns.

Oh noes! No worries I've trained the wasps to eat the earwigs
Thanks for the tip karode I had no idea they did that. For the last three days that earwig has been there, it leaves at night and sits in that exact spot each day. I wonder if it has been slowly trying to chew its way to the fleshy center... I went ahead and moved him into contested territory on the top of my compost pile. I'll be watching my cacti very close from now on

The earwigs only eat into the newer growth, mainly near the tips. In older growth the epidermis is too thick for them to chew into.

I guess it just likes to sleep in the pit of the callus during the day... it was gone every night and back in the same exact spot for the three days that I noticed it. Never moved an inch until the evening. I'll be keeping an eye on my youngins

It's strange he(I'm assuming a he because of the size and shape of the pincers) hangs out there during the day. They have a habit of hiding away under various things during daylight. Must feel safe in the callus crevice.

I would say he too or a butch
It is very strange... maybe he senses the cactuses protective spirit
I just read they are mostly blind too which makes it even weirder
It looks like it molted recently since he is so damn shiny... I guess he didn't get to where he is now by being senseless. He knows what's up

I transplanted a Salvia (Luna) clone outdoors about 3 weeks ago, and the ants decimated it So I took 5 cuttings off of it and left whatever tiny branches that were still forming so it can try to regenerate if it manages to fend off the damn things. Shoulda bought a pesticide, but I tend to be stupid like that.
