Can't believe I've missed most of these pics. Some cool ones have been posted.
Here's a fly laying maggots on a Stapelia gigantea flower.

@prismism: I use a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM macro lens on a EOS 500D.

Nice Stapelia flower K man!
Here's a tiny snail living between the roots of a common weed here - Cardamine hirsuta (AKA popweed, hairy bittercress).

Poor thing has a broken wing... I guess I should put it out of its misery? I put it with a cloth soaked in sugar water but I guess its life is pretty pointless now. It's just going to get eaten by a cat.

You should eat it to gain its power. But really, it's probably a lot nicer to die quickly by being squished rather than being slowly eaten by ants or something. I wish I could contribute to this thread, but all I ever see on my plants are ants, slugs, or lizards.

It did cross my mind to eat it... I've never had butterfly before. I bet it tastes like flowers.
Ya I'd take being smashed over being eaten alive any day. I thought about letting it go into a rose bush but I'm sure it will just spend its remaining life hopelessly trying to fly... sad story. I guess it could have a slim chance to mate
I'll just crush it into my garden... circle of life. On to your next life... towards enlightenment. Who knows it may eventually become my child.

If you have a butterfly for a child, I think you should see a therapist. (Edit): I meant more that you shouldn't be able to mate with a butterfly and have a child and if you do, you should see a professional. I hope it didn't come across as me insulting your beliefs. Fluff, the ants are impossible to deal with. We got them out of the house with the help of an exterminator, but I'm pretty sure our backyard is 75% ants 25% plants and dirt. It's the slugs that I hate. I've killed more than 50 of them in the past couple of nights alone, and went outside to find one had bitten yet another one of my baby bhut jolokia in half, so I cut the slug in half with a stick.

Who really knows maybe you were a butterfly at one point in time. Maybe you will be my father one day or maybe we will bump into each other as walruses. It could happen.
edit: to manoa- no worries I wasn't insulted, I didn't think you were being insulting either. I just saw the opportunity to point out, who really knows anything

I swear things are evolving around here...
So many alien bugs lately...
This little bug has the spirit of a dragon! I've never seen a bug act so aggressively. I was trying to scoop it up with a piece of paper and it kept trying to kill it with that giant stinger(actually I don't think that is a stinger) and his huge mandibles. Fully opened looked like it could actually cause some pain. I should have gotten a video it was intense.

Interesting moth

New spider in my neck of the woods. I bet it likes to drink from those lavender buds
