Ouch. Thats a bit shaky for seedlings and delicates i bet... if thats a typical size. Dang. I constantly fight the snails, but the biggest ones are only about half that size... occasionally, maybe three quarters in the rarest of encounters.
Those apple blossoms are sexy as hell. what variety do you grow, if you dont mind me asking? I have always wanted to grow apples. I aspire to get some land in the country one day and have at least 5 apples trees... likely all fuji.... but thats all just a dream for now
How good of a haul do you get at harvest MH?

Snails don't cause too much hassle. See many of these in the garden too http://www.uksafari.com/bandedsnails.htm There is a smaller species ~1cm, 2/5ths of an inch, that I sometimes find sitting on trichs but rarely any damage caused. Slugs seem to prefer to munch on trichs when they find there way into a greenhouse. Pigeons go for the lophs on the patio
Not sure what the variety is other than green It has been in the garden near 50 years. There are many of these trees in the gardens around here. Gets pruned regularly to keep contained, gives lots of fruit each year, much gets left on the tree for the birds.
We had a fair sized plum tree for decades too but it eventually succumbed, which wasn't a bad thing really as it gave me space for a second greenhouse!

Yeah I'm pretty sure they're the same species we eat here in France, escargot de bourgogne. I fucking hate this dish though so I just throw em in the neighbour's hedge haha
No casualties though mostly, they land softly on some foliage but at least it takes them a while to come back

Yeah they're pretty hard, almost like sea shells basically. You can crush them in your hand if you try to, but no way it happens by accident when picking them up. The young ones do have a thin more light beige colored shell that cracks easy like yours it sounds like.
They're somewhat endangered here, well not really but it's forbidden to harvest them outside of a specific season.

I guess they mostly serve the purpose of being food for their predators, and their shit and calcium laden shells are probably not bad for the soil. Well that, and to turn into beautiful butterflies.
