I don't think that's a native wasp. More like fly of some sort, I think.
Nice picture by the way.
If Byrain sees this he might tell us more.

You are wise Jay. Thanks for the ID. Important pollinators and natural enemies of pests. I am glad there are lots around.

I thought it looked hoverfly-ish. Couldn't see the rear end well enough.

Interesting. Although I'm not quite sure it's a Mantid.
This one is though.

Probably the most beautiful shot I've seen on this thread. The paleness of that mantis brings it all together for me.

This is my buddy he’s a stink bug. I found him earlier this year on my 10th story balcony, he’s a really weak flyer in fact he almost never flies and he’s missing a leg. I dunno what happened to him but him and his brothers and sisters fucked up some cutworms that made their way into some of my plants this year. He was unable to leave with the rest since he’s just honestly no good at flying so he stuck around my place and he’s grown on me believe it or not! He’s always out their somewhere doing me a service, pictured here he is on my Echevaria sucking the insides out of a European corn borer moths larva. Go buddy! The corn borers were a huge nuisance this year. I don’t know what I’m gunna do with him when I run outta caterpillars n grubs to feed him... I’m gunna miss him tho, it’s been neat teaming up with a bug lol. Everything he’s been after the past month or so (cutworms and corn borers) has pretty much stopped making noticeable damage so they are hard to find. But buddy always knows where they hiding; he searches em out and I dig em up for him since he’s slow and injured. I just look for him each afternoon when I get home and whichever plant he’s on is the one I check for his dinner. But yea sadly I think he did too good a job and I really don’t think there’s much left for food for him in any of my plants. I’m so lame I’m debating breeding corn borers on a quarantined plant this winter so he has a food source
We have these ones also, very common. And god they stink, it´s like my farts when i have eaten something really bad.
