Earlier this summer, when I was building my greenhouse I witnessed a Black wasp stinging and carrying off a spider to her burrow. I wish I would have grabbed the camera for some of you guys so you could Identify the species. the wasp wasnt much bigger than an average honey bee, kind of small actually. She had a very slender body. My guess is an: Anoplius Species, based on where I live, and what I observed. She did look very much like this one.

I often thought of those parasitoid wasps as belonging to the genus Pepsis, but I see there are numerous others. Good catch!

I was checking on my grafts yesterday and this came out from under a leave:
As far as I can tell, it's a Corizus sp. fire bug, not sure of what species (I'd love to hear it from the bug-savant among you). Took a dive from the 3rd floor after taking its mugshot, in case it turns out to be a repeating offender.
EDIT: Found it: it's Lygaeus equestris and probably not too dangerous to my plants. Still wouldn't take him inside.

Hey Zed. I am by no means an Entomology person.. but I do enjoy bugs.. My guess is maybe the: (Corizus hyoscyami subs. nigridorsum) It would be the one most common to your area. From what I have read, they are plant and seed feeders. I would keep them off my plants if possible.

Yes, once I read the "plant feeder" bit I decided it would have to go.

Although as Kizat said it's possibly very dangerous to your plants the coloring on the bug is outstanding
BTW very nice Pelecyphora aselliformis graft you have there. I would protect that graft with my life if it were me. Those cacti are soooo sweet

green lacewing larvae on a scopulicola X super pedro

really sweet looking moth on a scop

Honey bees on Goldenrod

Luckily these were not the most aggressive of wasps, I nearly walked right through them in some thick briar
