I love spiders, but I guess they dont much like me... I cant get a spider to stick around my plants to save my life...
Maybe im just lucky and dont have much of a food source for them to justify staying around,..

I'm not particularly fond of spiders, so we tend to stay out of each others' way. Since my greenhouse is packed with square plastic pots there's a dense network of passages below the surface where all kinds of nice and nasty critters move unnoticed.
That said, spiderwise the more frequent residents on my plants are different species of jumping spiders. I just love to watch those sons of bitches hop along.

That spider is too stocky to be a recluse, abdomen isn't right either. And a recluse wouldn't likely just sit exposed like that, they're more.....reclusive.

I thought maybe you had a Pisaurina mira(Nursery Web Spider),that's what I have, but on further inspection,I'm not so sure anymore. It is,however, not a recluse I know that for certain.

Our most dangerous spiders are the biggest wimps thankfully. Still they're only like a wasps sting.

Better safe than sorry
I've heard some people don't even react to recluse bites, and if so it's 100% treatable. I've got them in my house but not as bad as it was 3-4 years ago....
When we first moved in you couldn't turn on a light without seeing at least one scurry underneath something. Quite unsettling.

They closed a school hear because of false widows. They've probably been there since the school was opened but press hysteria stirred things up. The spiders in the vid aren't even false widows, they're missing sector spiders. So much fail,,, .

My house is full of them, anywhere there's a hole near the ground they build webs.
Steatoda grossa, one of handful of species called false widow.

He's the largest spider I have on my plants but he seems to have 2 smaller siblings of the same species that pop up here and there as well as a large sized hobo spider I've seen on my mandevilla a couple times. Your right Kactus they are very helpful when it comes to getting rid of pests. I watched him catch a fungis nat a couple weeks ago with some serious stealth

My lil spider guardian in my dormancy room. He knows he's welcome in;)
Is that inside?
What's the problem Ferrel? I know you've been a cultivator for years and I thought you'd know how wonderful spiders are for pest reduction by now;)
I used to have a heavy case of arachnophobia a few years ago \until I started to get heavily interested in cultivation. Now I see them as the protectors of my babies or my Guardians so to say;)
I don't kill them when they are outside. But inside. Sorry but my flip flops will take care of that.

I never would have suspected a hard neck such as yourself to have such a fear of spiders Ferrel
I tell you what though I had a shit ton of fungus gnats awhile back in that same room and now I haven't seen a single one in probably just under a month. So you guys do the math which would you rather have hanging out in your guest bedroom/dormancy room "I don't have guests anymore"

I'm not scared of them. My little girl is terrified of them. The tiniest spider will make her go hysterical.

I usually let them live or throw them outside, but damn if I don't think to myself every time, this guy is going to come back and end me. Thus far neither side has broken the truce.

I know your not scared of them ferrel I was just joking with you but I was surprised about your comment of burning down the house due to you being an experienced gardener. I figured you would enjoy having them around your plants or even in your house guarding your babies from harmful pests. I didn't think about your children though so I understand the issue;)

This "fly" was fucking huge. Also looks like there's a face mask drawn on his back.
It caught my eye as I was walking into the house as I thought something had marked my cactus from a distance at first.

Yesterday I gave the first spraying of the year, since a lot of plants are in bloom or showing buds and a few days of good sun are coming. Hope it helps keeping the resident RSM population down as well. Anyway, Mr. Big Ass Spider was a bit annoyed but obliged nevertheless, posing tastefully on some Trichocereus schickendantzii seedlings, overlooking some T. smrzianus seedlings (in the shade).

Thanks. The spider was probably a bit groggy as it was coldish.
