Ooooh scary - this piece is written by a muslim. > > > > 06/26/2003 > President of European Commission Disagrees > With Bush About Hamas and Hezbollah > Sam Hamod > > > http://www.todaysalternativenews.com/index.php?event=link,150&values=1&values=756 > > Mr. Romano Prodi, the President of the European Union Commission who was part of the US/EU Summit in Washington, DC, today disagreed with GW Bush regarding Hamas. As Prodi pointed out, Hamas is not simply a military group, but is involved with hospitals, doctors, medicine, education, welfare and is a vital part of Palestinian society.
[oh god no---welfare?!!!]
Bush had shown his simplistic lack of knowledge of Hamas, as he has also done with his comments on Hezbollah, by saying that Hamas was "a terrorist group that must be completely dismantled." Fortunately, for the sake of reality, Prodi made his statements in public and also in interviews with the BBC. Unfortunately, most American media outlets did not post his informed and mature views. Mr. Bush seems to be either morally blind or else the moral and thinking parts of his brain do not function. Clearly, when Sharon continues attacking and killing women, children, and innocent bystanders in Palestine - under the guise of "security" - and Bush ignores it - something is missing in Bush. Some may blame the strong Zionist lobby and AIPAC - but remember this: Bush is the president and has great powers; he should stand up and not fear the Zionist lobby. As I pointed out several months ago, if the Zionist lobby was so strong, how is it that the Gore/Lieberman ticket lost in the last election. No, there is something fundamentally missing in Bush's thought and moral processes; thus, it was a relief that Mr. Prodi corrected the simplistic comments of President Bush. > Of course, it is embarrassing that we should have a president who is > so limited in his moral compass and in his knowledge of Hamas,Hezbollah > and other matters in the Arab and Muslim worlds. > As Prodi and most educated people know, and as was voiced by both Mahmoud Abbass of Palestine, and the Christian President of Lebanon, Emile Lahoud, these two organizations are integral parts of their societies in both Palestine and Lebanon. But GW Bush keeps saying they must be "destroyed" - or on other days he says, "dismantled" --the meaning is the same. > > We, as Americans and citizens of this tiny planet, must thank the EU > nations such as France and Germany for standing up to Bush and > criticizing his invasion of Iraq. We must now thank Mr. Prodi as > President of the European Commission for standing up to Bush on Hamas and Hezbollah for speaking out with the truth about them. > > Unfortunately, and one must not deny that Hamas sponsors and praises acts with which I and others disagree. As a Muslim I know it is wrong to kill civilians; this must stop and this must be condemned. On the other hand, Hamas' response is that they must answer the terrorism of Sharon with terrorism of their own . Personally, I don't agree with this harmful policy. But, as one of their spokemen said, it is their privilege, especially since they live under this 24 hour-a-day oppression and attack, to call make their own decisions. > > On the other hand, Hezbollah has never committed suicide attacks into > Israel; they have defended their own land, Lebanon, from Israel and > the Israeli puppet South Lebanese Army. They have not instigated rocket > attacks into Israel except in response to Israeli raids on their group > or on Lebanon. The Israeli raids continue to this day, even though > Israel and their American-media-friends keep it hushed up in America > and much of the world. > > Thus, as usual, Bush has it wrong. Again, we must thank Mr. Prodi and > others like him in the EU - -as well as others in our own American > alternative media outlets--for continuing to stand up to the lies > being spewed out on a daily basis by Bush and his team of consummate liars. > Finally, let us hope that truth will win out; otherwise, the bad ride > we're on will only get worse.
