These mushrooms I found growing in the dark brown tanbark (particuarly aged tanbark, pieces are dark brown) at the front of my house in Canberra, Australia (cold climate, we're in winter). They were fairly large but there was only 3 or 4 around the small tanbark area.
These are pictures taken using a Logitech webcam and Quickcam so they aren't the best quality possible but they're the best I could come up with.
Some of the following info that is missing should be visible in the pictures.
a. Habitat (where and what does it grow on) - tanbark b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc) - dark brown. c. Measurements of cap and stem. cap: approx 8cm length stem: approx 5cm. length d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc) - Solid, white, not sticky or damp. it was fairly thick but then these are big mushrooms. between 1 and 1.5cm thick e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, concical/spherical, convex/concave, etc) - color was a mixture of brown, grey and white. predominantly lighter colours and not too dark overall. was black in some areas but these had been exposed to the sun for a short while (before I got to them). The texture was sort of chalky in that it wasn't wet or smooth. It was also sort of rubbery and cushiony like a marshmellow when touched. f. Spore print color (very important!) - dark brown g. Color that the mushroom briuses - unable to determine h. Scent of mushroom - smells like a mushroom

doesn't sound active, altho i can't see your pics.
you live in canberra, so you should be looking for psilocybe subaeruginosa. grows in woodmulch, has a purple/brown sporeprint, brown caps (varying in colour, dark brown when moist, drying to a much lighter straw colour) whitish stems. Strong blue bruising should be apparent, generally already have blue bruising on stems even before being picked. check some photos on this site and erowid, this mushroom is not that difficult to identify.
make sure you're 100% certain (still post photos up here for identification) before you even think of consuming them
cheers, jimbu

Looks like your picture hosting does not allow links from other websites.
If you right click on the red x's, go to properties and copy that address into the web browser you will be able to view them.
It could be some sort of Agaricus. However, I am not really sure about the species.

Your mushrooms look like they're from the genus Agaricus.
To have any chance of identifying them to species we need to know how they bruise. Cut a fresh one in half vertically and scrape the inside with your knife edge to bruise it. Color changes should occur within one hour.
Happy mushrooming!

they're not the same mushroom
subaeruginosa have a tendancy to vary hugely, macroscopically (especially since they're so hydrophanous, and the cap colour can range from a light colour to very dark brown), however once you start finding them, it will become much easier to identify them.
blue bruising on the stem seems to occur on most of the specimens i've found even before i've picked them!
