I think I'm gonna do this. Anyone else going? Shit looks intense and awesome. I started training I'm at 3 miles. Next run before I go up to 3.5 miles will be 2 miles 20 burpees every quarter mile. I'll scale up like that as I progress til I do 7 miles w burpees a week or so before the race.
Would be sweet to see a few Shroomery members doing this Better start training ,pussies !

I'm not doing that but I run twice a week and lift weights 3 times a week. If you are look to improve your endurance try things like HIIT and skipping as alternatives to always doing just the straight ahead approach, as they both improve your cardiovascular endurance greatly.

I cant stand running really used to be a avid 4-5 miles a day runner. I pretty much just left now but I'm gonna get back into running obviously I will have to . Appreciate the advice I already skip rope occasionally but need to run daily to be fit for this race. You should consider going man

Not that similar. Tough mudder = 10-12 miles. War dash is 3.5 no?

Probably, I meant similar as in that they are both obstacle based. I didn't know the distance of either.

Then yea, obstacle course style race. Kinda thought u meant that wasn't sure. Looks sweet. Done a 5k obstacle course race and it was still pretty hard!

Was gonna do it in September but am training for a powerlifting comp so gotta focus on that as its a set goal. Those types of training will clash haha but it looks FUCKING FUN! Next time round for sure!
Get involved people, see what you're made of! I know people who have done it and they all had a blast. Even if it took 5 hours to complete the course or it wasn't completed at all, everyone was happy. Just challenging yourself is an accomplishment in itself.
Have fun FlashLightning! Maybe log your preparation/training in this thread while we cheer ya on! How many people are you doing it with?

What about adding stuff like pullups in your runs? Do you run past parks with equipment? A place with monkey bars would be awesome haha. There seems to be a fair bit of climbing stuff in the obstacle course so find stuff to climb or scale. If you can find a place with a decent half pipe and run up that, set up a circuit where you get up the half pipe, skipping rope, burpees, jump squats and just repeat non-stop or with minimal rest for half an hour or so..
Not an expert at this thing as I've never done it lol, just chucking ideas out for what I'd do in preparation haha.
Do you do any other type of training?

No man those are some great ideas and I think I will definately incorporate those into the training with the burpees. I run by pullup bars in a park where I run, they're real thick tear your hands apart if you try any kipping motion lol but great for dead hang. I'll just run w some chalk in a sock in my pocket
I do other training. Im a crossfitter. I know there's a lot of crossfit hate it's pricey but very effective training method. heavy lifting + circuit training in a competitive style while crossfit isn't necessarily a new method of training, they're really the first gym to make a class out of for the masses that anyone could join

I really wish there were more threads about actual physical well being in this subforum, stuff about nutrition, weight lifting, supplements, muscle types, exercise plans, all that kind of stuff. Not be to crass or rude but it just seems like a lot of threads about suicide all the time.

LMAO, yeah more threads about LIVING haha. So many glum people here lol, too many people abusing drugs to the shithouse, losing respect for life itself. I know we all use/used to use drugs but people need to respect their health and bodies... But drugs aside, some people allow themselves to become so weak that life just... overwhelms them. Its nice to see some people here have drive to be strong, sink their teeth into this world and ultimately celebrate... BEING HUMAN!!!

No kidding right? Crazy sad people. Anyway today I ran 3.5 miles, ran 1.5 w my pitbull, came home, hit the bong, grabbed my other dog and ran another 2 miles. Everyone got a nice little run today.
My ass cheek muscles are tight from the jumping squats with the run. Feels good
Should be lifting tonight. Looks like split squats and jump rope/sit up descending ladder
