Tiny droplets on cakes
    #1663933 - 06/26/03 07:38 AM (20 years, 9 months ago)

I've let a bit too much mist into my terrarium and there are microdroplets of water on top of my cakes. Should I pat them down with a paper towel or reduce humidity and wait for them to evaporate?

paper towel - but 'wick' it up rather than patting them down.

Just fan them. Avoid touching when possible.

Wait, it will evaporate. Most of time, patience is the key.

I believe I'll wait. My humidifier wasn't working properly at first, so I added perlite and water and everything was fine for a day and then I got the humidifier to work properly and that and the perlite together were too much. So I scooped out all the perlite and I'm misting again.

Humidity went down just enough that there's a tinge of blue here and there. (ACK!) But things should stabilize soon. Thanks for the help, everyone. Pictures coming later.

my friend sprays the top of his cakes with water, after a 24h cold dunk, and can't complain (though definitely not scottsman!). never had a problem with water on the cake
