they're asking him to come in for questioning. and he's consenting basically... going in. he shouldn't even be going to the police station. if they really have shit on him, they'll come arrest him, not ask him politely to come in and talk. tell him not to even go down to the station. sounds like the police don't have shit and they're trying to get some.

Screw 'em. I would not show up at all. If they had anything, they would be able to get a warrant to arrest him. They are hoping he will come in and fuck himself accidentally. If any of you ever find yourself in a situation where they are questioning you, DON'T SAY SHIT! Get your lawyer. The cops will lie their asses off about what they have on you, to get you to fuck up and admit guilt. If I was your friend, I would clean up my act for a while just in case they do obtain a search or arrest warrant. As far as holding him goes, it is usually 72 on a probably cause type thing. It doesn't sound like they even have that though.
