we waste our time and energy trying to argue. if only all that wasted energy went towards our own understanding we could have certainly come to a conclusion by now.

I don't ever try to argue.  I know how. :ass:

arguing, or trying to get people to understand our perspectives, which aren't very broad to begin with..

You damn well know it's impossible to provide sources about the intentions of the writers of the bible, they are long dead, and no one knows who they actually are.
As far as how old the story is, I was not correlating the whale with the new testament, I was correlating my point with your shit about slavery. If you want someone to debate I suggest you find someone else. I have a right to state my opinion.

Well that's your opinion as well as the opinion of the fundamentalist Westboro baptist church, you know the ones that picket dead soldiers funerals. I choose to only believe what's important in the bible, I choose to believe that it is not literal, it would be ridiculous to think it is. The people who think it is are missing out on some pretty important stuff. You saying that it's better to believe everything in the bible instead of choosing what you actually believe is like accepting everything in a modern science text book as fact. Its closed minded and lacks critical thinking. You good sir are in a cloud of delusion.:bearbreakdance:

Waste that energy on creating a synchronicity between religion and science, the non-destructive parts - which leaves us with a transition over to science. This is happening as we speak, but it will and is taking blood, tears and anger.

Peace lies upon us and is in the process amongst us. People will lol at "peace amongst us" in 10000 years when they are out there fighting other species.

Even the most badass atheists with their heads on the right place (non-destructivity) agrees with religions advanced words - PEACE AMONGST HUMANITY.

JUST PLAY YOUR FUCKING CARDS RIGHT AND ULTIMATE EXTACY MAY AWAIT.

Never said your claims were offensive you're making that up.  And again I never thought you were a theologian you're making that up too even after I explained how that was not the  case,  and quit trying to go off topic and make this about me. You are the one here that is diverting attention imo.  Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.  I asked a legitimate question about your knowledge of the complexity of understanding the bible and that was all. That's why I asked if you had some authoritative knowledge of the bible rather than claimed you were acting like you were an authority. I was asking if you'd done an serious study of the bible. I have a one time and yet that doesn't make me a theologian.  You get to read insult into it if that floats your boat.
:satansmoking:

and i'd post threads where i've successfully pointed out the flaws in your arguments but i'm sure you know i don't have them

Actually in reading back over it I found at least two misspellings.

don't sell yourself short icelander. i'm sure anyone with a couple of years of school under their belt could've refuted your claims and helped you create this non-discussion.

You certainly have a bad case of sour grapes for some reason.  What exactly is your problem?  Didn't you say earlier you held no hard feelings about any of this? Doesn't really sound that way.  You seem intent on keeping this thread off topic.
