Pins on bottom of cakes only

Why are most of my cakes pinning on the bottom of the cake only? I assume it has to do with water sinking from the top to the bottom of the cake. This has happened on my last two grows and its pissing me off. Should I flip the cake when this happens or leave it and let them do their thing? Im trying to solve the problem by misting the shit out of the top. Am I doing the right thing? Any advice on how to solve this problem once and for all!!!

Pinning is more then likely due to the best micro environment, i.e. best humidity at the bottom. Don't flip them, just let nature take its course.

What kind of jars are you using? Exactly how are you dunking your cakes? How long do you let the cakes consolidate? How deep is your perlite?

Correct. Mist a few times daily to replace this water to keep the cake flushing. It matters little where the fruits form as long as they do. Don't flip the cakes. RR

Ha! I just flipped them back over after reading previous posts...sorry guys. But thanks! Also the previous posts mentioned that humidity could be off and thats the best place for them to pin? I dont have a hygrometer but I followed the perlite shotgun teK correctly (holes on all six sides etc etc) so shouldnt be a problem.I really need a good hygrometer just in case though. Hard to find on location at Lowes or Home Depot, but I need to get off ass and order one from either store. But Ive been misting appropriately (bout four times a day) Im pretty sure. Sometimes Ill wash hands and pull them out and give them each a direct mist individually...then 12 inch mist to give the perlite something to do. I dont know...Ill just have to continue to give the top of the cake more attention I guess. Im hating this bottom pin crap.I guess Ill just have to accept it for now like you said.

I wanted to give advice but you'd have to answer my questions from before.

Whoa!!! Over the last couple days these things just took off like a rocket ship!!! There are like twenty to twenty five fatties (EQ) on this poor cake..lol. Thank you Roger Rabbit! I would have really screwed myself had I turned them over and left them like that. Boy you really have to keep these cakes hydrated good. I started to direct mist the tops of the cakes more than five times a day...then boom...pins on top. And thats after a 24 hour dunk. Crazy! I dont think I realized on my first grow just how hydrated these things have to be. That and I think my FC was in a crappy spot in the house (poor air circulation.) Also I was using 5000K bulbs, but this time natural sunlight. There seems to be a difference.
Damn this was a good grow..and no agar in sight. Terrible.
