From wiki:
Contemporary Guinness Draught and Extra Stout are weaker than they were in the 19th century, when they had an original gravity of over 1.070. Foreign Extra Stout and Special Export Stout, with abv of 7.5% and 9% respectively, are perhaps closest to the original in character.
Man I wish I could try the foreign stout. I love the US extra stout but hate that regular draught you get in the US... it taste like shit.

I like Guinness ok but I like Kilkenny better, same brewer and basically the same texture but it's a cream ale. Guinness is a pretty intense taste experience though, it's good but you have to be in the right mood for it.

I can't stand most hoppy light beers so guiness has been my go to beer for a bit now. Tastes delicious and sort of nutty chocolatey at the end.

I love the Guinness Foreign Extra. Expensive, a 4-pack for $7.99, maybe $8.99 up here, but one of my favorite beers.
I don't mind the regular stuff, I think it is 4.2 abv, but I can't go to a bar and order a Guinness since I've never met a bartender who can pour it without being 3/4 foam.

It's 4.2 yeah, but apparently people like a decent head on their beer in Europe so maybe that has something to do with how foamy it gets.

Bartenders here seem to do a reasonable job of it, at least at Irish style pubs. Usually it's pretty expensive at a place like that though.

A proper pint of Guiness takes a couple of minutes to pour, settle and top up.
In Holland they like huge head on their beer, in the UK we will always ask for a top up if there is an excess of head. A proper pint, Guinness or otherwise, should have about 1/2" of foam max, no more.
They told me to fuck off back to England in Amsterdam when I asked them to fill my glass! Wankers!
