Does anyone know if Giger took acid? Or like any psychedelic drugs at all?

His work is so DMT-esque I'd say he must have. Or maybe it's all endogenous and through meditation/naturally amazing brain.

Aha! Proof.
Quote:
SECONDS: What is the relationship of your art to psychedelia?
GIGER: I think there’s a relationship. Not so in the colors but I have some older works that look very psychedelic.
SECONDS: What have drugs done for the art world?
GIGER: You know, drugs are forbidden in Switzerland. Even psychedelic drugs that open you up are forbidden. LSD was invented by Albert Hoffman, who is Swiss. He had his first psychedelic experience on a bicycle, after accidentally getting some LSD on his fingers. He didn’t know what he had discovered. He was looking for something that would help women in labor. He changed the world. Many artists symbolize the psychedelic experience with a bicycle. This man is now 88 years old. I met him about six months ago. He’s very healthy and intelligent. Each day, he hangs upside down with his wife for half an hour, like a bat, in gravity boots.
SECONDS: You know Timothy Leary too, right?
GIGER: Yes, but not too well. When he was in Switzerland, he was looking for a place to hide because they wanted to put him in jail. My father was a pharmacist and knew Leary was in trouble. He was not very excited about Leary being in Switzerland, so I didn’t tell him I was trying to get help for him. He wouldn’t have been pleased.

dude i trip on giger so hard.
I'm not sure people comprehend this, you have to meditate 8 hours a day on this fact to understand it:
think of how fucking crazy you'd have to be, to have that stuff BE your imagination.
i feel like us youngin's probably can't comprehend it, because we've been saturated in giger's work and its by derivatives the whole time we've been alive. I challenge anyone to find me anything before giger thats even remotely similar though. In particular i'm talking about the alien biomechanical stuff. as near as i can tell he's the sole source of all that shit. its fucking crazy as fuck.

think of how fucking crazy he has to be though.
My visual imagination is... orders of magnitude shittier.
i can't even comprehend having something like that in my head.

I suspected he might have been taking acid because at least for me it would take acid to sit down and draw all these repetitive patterns with such great precision.
You know how when you do acid your hand moves way more steadily and the repetitive pattern happens on its own.
Btw he also designs furniture. If I could afford it I would pay that guy a fortune to make a lysergic alien-esque palace
Plus he designed my all time favourite Hollywood monster

i don't see too many wooks drawing giger shit at the jam band festivals, and this is way after the fact and biomechanical shit is well established.
I don't think its acid man. I think some part of his mind is in a whole nother galaxy.
ah don't get me worked up. I really get fucked up thinking about giger the man.
seriously, thinking about where something like that comes from fucks me sideways.

I'm not saying its solely the acid cause then we'd all be drawing that sort of shit, and fuck the wooks at festivals, I can't stand most of those guys
I think acid must have been some sort of a catalyst for what was already there, hidden in his mind. I also get fucked up thinking about him. I really want to buy some of his original works.

I hate it. Now, it's really well done. The artist is highly talented. His mind is just too dark for my taste. I wouldn't want any of his work on my wall. I can't stand that horror stuff. To me it's bad vibes.

Back in '01 when I made my account I was really into Quake 3 online and the rail gun was my favorite weapon, 1 shot kills. I'd just camp on re-spawn points, lol. I like a few horrorish movies like zombie and vampire stuff though. I'm not all sunshine and rainbows. lol

I haven't played for years. I'd change my username but I like it when people who haven't logged in for years remember me, lol. Back then my friends and I would play battlefield on 8 computers LANed together and we'd take on whole servers of other players together, and win! It was fun until I got burned out on it. We had 14 hour gaming sessions 4 or 5 days a week back then.
Here's a pic of the painting on the wall in my den:
